System Analyst - Contract - Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced System Analyst to join a delivery-focused technology team within a leading financial services organisation. This is a 12-month contract role based in Cape Town, offering an opportunity to work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment supporting digital and technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, systems-oriented professional who can analyse business and technical requirements, understand system dependencies and integrations, and translate requirements into clear technical specifications for delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Analysis & Requirements
- Analyse and document business, functional and technical requirements.
- Translate business requirements into detailed system specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Analyse existing systems, applications and processes to identify gaps, dependencies and improvement opportunities.
- Define system functionality, business rules, data requirements and integration requirements.
- Work closely with developers, architects, product owners and technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and delivered.
System Integration & Technical Analysis
- Analyse system interfaces, APIs, integrations and data flows.
- Document end-to-end system processes and integration points.
- Identify system dependencies, impacts and potential technical risks.
- Support solution design by providing detailed analysis of current and future-state systems.
- Investigate system issues and assist delivery teams with root-cause analysis and resolution.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate requirements sessions, workshops and working sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Act as the link between business users and technical delivery teams.
- Communicate technical and system concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage and clarify requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Delivery & Agile
- Support Agile delivery teams with backlog refinement, sprint planning and requirements clarification.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, QA and Architects throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support system testing, user acceptance testing and defect resolution where required.
- Ensure system requirements and documentation remain aligned throughout delivery.
- Contribute to digital transformation, system implementation and platform modernisation initiatives.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years' experience as a System Analyst, Systems Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
- Strong experience in systems analysis within complex enterprise environments.
- Financial services experience is required; insurance experience will be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of system integrations, APIs, interfaces and data flows.
- Proven experience documenting functional and technical requirements.
- Experience with process modelling, system analysis and technical documentation.
- Experience working with developers, architects and technical delivery teams.
- Experience working within Agile, hybrid or waterfall environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, IT, Business Analysis or a related field.
- BA/System Analysis certifications such as IIBA, Agile BA or equivalent would be advantageous.

- Systems and technical analysis methodologies and techniques.
