Accounting & Payroll Specialist
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay Rate: Up to $30.50/hour (Depending on Experience) Shift: 1st Shift
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounting & Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing, accounting activities, and employee-related functions in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in managing payroll and accounting responsibilities accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, 401(k), garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Process weekly payroll for office and field employees.
- Provide assistance to Human Resources as needed.
- Process weekly employee expense reimbursements.
- File payroll taxes weekly, quarterly, and year-end, including processing W-2s.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Provide support to the Accounting Department.
- Download and upload data files weekly for health and dental insurance.
- Process company credit card transactions.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
