CNC Machinist / Programmer
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay: Up to $33/hour, depending on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM; Saturday, 6:00 AM–12:00 PM Hours: Approximately 56 hours/week Shift: 1st Shift
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, precision machining experience, and the ability to consistently meet tight dimensional requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Review and interpret machining drawings and technical specifications.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills.
- Develop and modify programs using G-code.
- Work with Fagor, Fanuc, Haas, and Heidenhain controls; experience with every control is not required.
- Machine parts to tight tolerances, including requirements as close as 0.0005".
- Inspect finished work using calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges.
- Maintain consistent part quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Follow established safety practices while working around heavy industrial equipment.
- Maintain reliable attendance and a professional work ethic.
- Work scheduled hours, including occasional Saturday shifts.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. when required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with CNC programming and machine operation.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and machining prints.
- Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Knowledge of G-code programming.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Ability to follow safe work practices in a heavy industrial setting.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work the required schedule.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on machining position in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The successful candidate should be comfortable working extended shifts and handling materials up to 50 lbs. when required.
