CNC Steel Fabrication Operator
Location: Ashland, VA Shift: 1st Shift Starting Pay: $20.00/hour — higher depending on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Steel Fabrication Operator with structural steel experience. This role involves operating CNC machinery, interpreting technical drawings, performing machining and assembly work, and checking finished components for accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC equipment, including combination mill/lathe and drill line machines used for structural steel fabrication.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Use hand and power tools for machining and assembly tasks.
- Adjust machine settings to maintain proper performance and accuracy.
- Inspect completed components to verify they meet design and structural specifications.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic machine maintenance.
- Enter production information and maintain documentation in Global Shop (ERP system).
- Work with team members to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in structural steel fabrication required.
- Experience operating CNC equipment, specifically combination mill/lathe and drill line machines.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Strong computer skills; experience with Global Shop or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
