Structural Steel Quality Inspector
Location: Richmond, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st Shift Starting Pay: $31.00/hour (higher based on experience)
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Quality Inspector to support quality control in a structural steel fabrication facility. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection and layout knowledge may also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout the production process
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections
- Verify dimensions, layout, and component placement
- Compare materials and completed work against shop drawings and specifications
- Identify, document, and follow up on nonconforming work in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5
- Work with fabrication and production teams to correct quality issues
- Support quality improvement efforts and process improvements
- Participate in annual AISC quality-control audits
Requirements
- 3–5 years of structural steel layout and fabrication experience
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and quality requirements
- Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify dimensional and fabrication issues
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
- Overtime available on Saturdays
