Job Duties

  • Maintain the automotive Quality Management System (QMS) under IATF 16949 standards.
  • Manage internal audit schedules, nonconformities, and third-party audit liaison tasks.
  • Spend up to 50% of work time supporting QA documentation for New Model Launches.
  • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement and Root Cause Analysis teams. [1, 2]

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of automotive manufacturing experience.
  • IATF 16949 Internal Auditor Certification.
  • Familiarity with AIAG core tools (PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP).
  • Strong communication and MS Office skills. [1, 2]
  • 8D problem solving — investigating a customer or production issue from start to finish and documenting the solution.
  • 5 Why analysis — digging past the obvious problem to determine the actual root cause.
  • Fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams — breaking down potential causes of a quality issue.
  • Corrective actions — determining what needs to change and making sure the change prevents the problem from coming back.
  • Customer complaints — investigating complaints and responding with a clear root cause and corrective action.
  • Quality inspection — understanding how parts/products are inspected and identifying when they don't meet requirements.
  • Quality compliance — making sure processes and products meet internal, customer, and applicable quality requirements.
  • Continuous improvement — looking for ways to improve processes and reduce recurring quality problems.

This person would:

1. Investigate the problem ? What exactly is wrong?

2. Find the root cause ? Why did it happen? Use tools like 5 Why and Fishbone.

3. Determine the corrective action ? What needs to change to fix the problem?

4. Work with production ? Help implement the fix.

5. Verify the fix worked ? Make sure the problem isn't continuing.

6. Document everything ? Use an 8D or similar problem-solving process to communicate the issue, root cause, and corrective action.

Must-have:

  • Manufacturing quality experience
  • Experience investigating quality problems
  • Strong corrective-action experience
  • Experience with 8D, 5 Why, and/or Fishbone
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints
  • Comfortable working directly with production

Strong plus:

  • Automotive manufacturing experience
  • Experience with quality inspections
  • Experience with quality compliance
  • Continuous improvement experience
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.
