Description

Our quantum sensing technology is already operating in customer environments across United States, Asia and Europe. As our installed base grows and we move from first deployments to repeat orders, ensuring the reliability and performance of every system becomes increasingly important.

As our Global Service Specialist, based at our Munich HQ, you’ll be part of a rapid-deployment team that resolves complex and escalated technical issues across our worldwide installed base. You’ll step in where regional service teams and partners need deeper expertise, and support installations, commissioning, and repairs when situations require it.

You’ll work directly with leading semiconductor foundries, IDMs, and OSATs, ensuring our systems operate reliably and consistently meet their specifications. You’ll collaborate closely with our Engineering and Applications teams, combining technical problem-solving with a strong customer focus.

This is also an opportunity to help shape our global service function from an early stage, introducing the processes, tools, and standards that will support our growing international installed base.

Who we are

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off of TU Munich, QD leverages quantum sensors to rapidly capture three-dimensional current maps within multi-layer chips. Our strong, international team of over 70, including physicists, engineers, data scientists, and other experts, works side by side with major semiconductor manufacturers, supporting chip debugging and accelerating yield analysis. Backed by top-tier deep tech investors, semiconductor experts, and strategic public programs, we have ensured long-term stability, shifting from breakthrough to scale - and shaping the next chapter in chip testing.

Why join QuantumDiamonds?

Picture this:

  • Quantum sensors that see inside the most advanced chips on Earth, right where two frontier fields collide.

  • Nobel-Prize physics aimed at real customers with real problems, in production now, not someday.

  • Physicists, data scientists, and engineers building side by side, turning deep science into tools the industry actually runs on.

  • An international team that runs at hard problems for fun, where knowledge moves fast and so do you.

Still unsure about why joining us?

  • You'll get to build a company together with a brilliant and welcoming team on a product that has never been done before.

  • From Day 1, you'll own your own topics end to end and see the direct impact of your work on how the world sees QuantumDiamonds.

  • Our technology is the cutting edge of tomorrow, starting today and not in 10 years.

  • You’ll be part of a high-growth company backed by top-tier investors.

Let’s make the invisible visible!

What will you do

  • Act as the technical escalation point for regional service teams and distribution partners, resolving issues that require deeper system expertise.

  • Deploy rapidly to customer sites across Europe, the US, and Asia to resolve critical system issues and minimize downtime.

  • Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of our quantum sensing systems when required, working closely with our Munich-based engineering teams.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repairs across optical, laser, mechanical, electronic, and software subsystems.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues systematically, collaborating with Engineering and R&D when root causes go beyond service-level expertise.

  • Work closely with Field Application Engineers, who focus on measurement execution and customer applications, to ensure a seamless customer experience.

  • Support spare-parts planning and service logistics across the global installed base, ensuring critical parts are available for rapid response.

  • Document service activities, technical findings, and root causes, feeding recurring issues and improvement opportunities back into Product Development.

  • Build trusted relationships with customers and partners through clear technical communication and professional service in demanding semiconductor environments.

  • Help establish and continuously improve our global service processes, including escalation workflows, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation.

What is expected of you

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in field service, service support, or equipment engineering roles, ideally with semiconductor, optical, laser, inspection, or metrology equipment.

  • A proven track record of resolving escalated or complex system issues that first-line service could not solve.

  • Strong practical troubleshooting skills across complex electromechanical systems, ideally combining optics, lasers, precision mechanics, electronics, and control software.

  • Experience working in semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, or similarly demanding technical environments, with an understanding of relevant safety and operating procedures.

  • Familiarity with laser safety and interlocked systems, or willingness to complete the necessary technical and safety qualifications.

  • Experience with spare-parts management, service documentation, and ERP or service ticketing systems is an advantage.

  • A structured, independent, and solution-oriented approach to technical challenges, especially under time pressure.

  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and build trust with customers, partners, and internal teams.

  • Willingness to travel internationally on a frequent basis, often at short notice, to support customers and partners across the US, Europe, and Asia.

  • Fluency in English. Other languages (e.g. German, Mandarin, Korean) are a plus.

  • A degree in Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent technical training and relevant practical experience.
