Role Overview

Rayyan is an AI SaaS startup developing a research collaboration platform with an AI-assisted workflow that helps accelerate searching, extracting, and synthesizing relevant information from research studies to inform evidence-based decision making, including evidence-based medicine.

As a Frontend Software Engineer at Rayyan Systems Inc., you will design, develop, and implement new and next-generation features with a focus on frontend technologies. You'll ship end-to-end product experiences from onboarding and core workflows to complex data interactions and AI-powered features. Working within a collaborative environment, you'll partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to transform user needs into elegant, functional software.

This is a growth role where you'll expand your skills in SaaS product development, AI-first interfaces, and complex frontend architecture while contributing meaningfully from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Feature Development

  • Design, develop, and implement new and next-generation frontend features for our research collaboration platform

  • Build and maintain user interfaces for web-based SaaS applications, including onboarding flows, core features, settings, and admin interfaces

  • Implement responsive, accessible UI from designs and prototypes, solving complex problems with simple, maintainable solutions

  • Contribute to and maintain shared component libraries and design-system implementations that ensure consistency across the product

  • Develop data-driven interfaces including dashboards, tables, filters, and visualizations

AI-First Experience Engineering

  • Implement user experiences for AI-powered features, making sophisticated capabilities feel natural and accessible

  • Build intuitive interfaces for AI interactions, automated workflows, and intelligent recommendations

  • Balance automation with user control, ensuring transparency and clear feedback in AI-driven flows

Collaboration & Growth

  • Partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define features and align on technical approach

  • Participate in code reviews, design critiques, and sprint planning within an Agile process

  • Write clean, tested code and help improve frontend quality, performance, and developer experience

  • Stay current with frontend best practices, SaaS UI patterns, and AI interface trends

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 2+ years of demonstrated frontend engineering experience for web applications

  • Strong portfolio or GitHub profile demonstrating your engineering process and problem-solving approach

  • Experience with consumer or SaaS products

Skills

  • Proficient understanding of HTML/CSS and ES6+

  • Proficient with responsive design and browser compatibility practices

  • Proficient understanding of ReactJS and its fundamentals (JSX, Virtual DOM, component lifecycle, etc.)

  • Experience with a JavaScript state management library (e.g. Redux or similar)

  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling and RESTful services/APIs consumption

  • Familiarity with a JavaScript testing framework

  • Experience with web performance optimization

  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git

  • Understanding and experience with the Agile process

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical decisions

  • Self-directed and comfortable managing multiple projects

Nice to Have

  • Experience building AI/ML-powered product features

  • Familiarity with SaaS or enterprise applications, especially research or healthcare-adjacent domains

  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive UI implementation

  • Experience with TypeScript

  • Experience with design tools (e.g. Figma) and close designer collaboration

  • Experience with monorepos, Nx, and CQRS architecture

  • Experience with E2E testing or analytics-informed product decisions
