We’re expanding our executive operations team and seeking a Capital Markets Manager to oversee all aspects of secondary marketing, pricing strategy, pipeline hedging, investor relations, and loan delivery.

Job Overview

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the mortgage company, including accounting, financial reporting, warehouse line management, commission accounting, and regulatory financial compliance. This role ensures accurate financial records, proper internal controls, and compliance with mortgage industry regulations.

The Controller will work closely with executive leadership, secondary marketing, payroll, and operations to maintain the financial integrity of the organization while supporting company growth.

Key Responsibilities

**Financial Reporting \& Accounting**

* Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements * Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations * Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards * Prepare financial reports and analysis for executive leadership * Maintain the company’s chart of accounts

**Mortgage Industry Accounting**

* Manage loan funding accounting and reconciliation * Oversee warehouse line accounting and reconciliations * Track loan purchase advice and investor remittances * Monitor gain on sale reporting * Reconcile loan pipelines with accounting records * Work closely with Secondary Marketing and Capital Markets teams

**Payroll \& Commission Accounting**

* Oversee accounting for loan officer commissions, overrides, and bonuses * Reconcile payroll expenses and commission reports * Partner with HR and payroll teams to ensure compensation is properly recorded * Ensure compliance with FLSA and state payroll regulations

**Compliance \& Regulatory Reporting**

* Support financial reporting requirements for state regulators and licensing agencies * Assist with NMLS financial filings * Manage financial documentation for state mortgage audits * Maintain financial compliance with warehouse lenders and investors * Ensure adherence to mortgage banking financial regulations

**Internal Controls \& Process Improvement**

* Establish and maintain strong internal accounting controls * Develop accounting policies and procedures * Implement systems to improve financial efficiency and reporting * Support system integrations between LOS, accounting systems, and financial reporting platforms

**Team Leadership**

* Manage and mentor accounting staff * Coordinate with HR, Compliance, Secondary Marketing, and Operations * Provide guidance on financial policies and procedures * Support cross\-departmental financial initiatives

Qualifications

**Education**

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration * CPA designation preferred but not required

**Experience**

* 5\+ years of accounting experience * 3\+ years in the mortgage banking or lending industry strongly preferred * Experience with warehouse lending and mortgage accounting

**Technical Skills**

**Experience with mortgage industry systems such as:**

* Loan Origination Systems (LOS) such as Calyx Path or similar * Advanced Excel financial modeling * Mortgage reporting and commission structures

**Knowledge Areas**

* Mortgage loan lifecycle accounting * Gain on sale calculations * Warehouse line management * Mortgage servicing or investor accounting * Regulatory financial reporting * GAAP compliance

**Key Competencies**

* Strong analytical and financial reporting skills * High attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to manage multiple financial workflows * Strong leadership and communication skills * Deep understanding of mortgage banking financial operations
