Role Overview
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse and Operations Manager in the management of
all day-to-day operations of Rough Trade’s US warehouse in Queens, NY.
This role is a key to ensuring all operational tasks within the warehouse are executed efficiently and to the
highest standard.
The successful candidate will ensure timely, accurate, and careful processing of vinyl
records and associated merchandise. This includes shipping, receiving, storage, inventory control, and
fulfilment.
The successful candidate will be a proven team leader who is comfortable motivating and
delegating to teams of up to 15 people in a busy warehouse environment.
We require someone with strong interpersonal skills who has good people management experience including
performance management and dealing with employee relations issues.
This role is ideal for someone looking to support the management of a dynamic warehouse operations team
who will bring energy, reliability, and attention to detail to an environment built on teamwork and music
culture.
The role reports directly to the Warehouse and Operations Manager - NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and motivate the warehouse team on a daily basis through team briefings, leading by
example and offering coaching where required.
- Oversee the order fulfilment process from the goods in stage, through to pick and pack and order
fulfilment.
- Ensure the correct processing of B2B and B2C orders through platforms such as Shopify.
- Maintain health and safety standards and ensure the Warehouse is clean and well-organized.
- Drive team performance through close management of productivity metrics and other KPIs.
- Effectively deputise for the Warehouse and Operations Manager in their absence.
- Support the management of poor performance within the warehouse team if required.
Team Coordination
- Support with recruitment, training and colleague development.
- Lead daily team meetings and set clear expectations and accountabilities with the team.
- Train and develop new warehouse assistants on Rough Trade processes, handling protocols and
safety standards.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Stock management and assistance with full inventory audits.
- Ensure proper storage, stock rotation, and labelling across all product lines.
- Help monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies or low stock to management.
Process Improvement & Problem Solving
- Identify inefficiencies or workflow issues and suggest improvements
- Proactively resolve minor logistical or order fulfilment challenges in coordination with the Warehouse
Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Previous experience in team leadership or in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrable experience in warehouse operations or logistics, ideally in a music, retail, or
e-commerce setting.
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Working knowledge of warehouse systems and shipping platforms (e.g. Shopify, UPS, USPS).
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong eye for detail.
- Dependability and a proactive, team-first attitude.
- Experience working with Inventory Management and ERP systems.
Desirable
- Familiarity with vinyl stock management.

This role requires a varied work pattern and for the successful candidate to be available 7 days per week,
