A dynamic organisation within the FMCG industry is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven and experienced Sales Representative – Formal Market.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with key retail customers within the formal FMCG market.
The role will focus on expanding product distribution, increasing market share and ensuring excellent customer service, effective merchandising and achievement of sales targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Sales & Business Development
- Drive sales growth and achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within supermarkets, pharmacies, wholesalers and retail chains.
- Expand product listings, shelf space and market penetration.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail customers.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with buyers, procurement teams and store managers.
- Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews.
- Negotiate pricing, promotional agreements, rebates and trading terms.
- Resolve customer queries and support account management activities.
3. Merchandising & Retail Execution
- Ensure effective product placement, shelf visibility and stock availability.
- Monitor in-store promotions, pricing and competitor activities.
- Ensure proper execution of promotional campaigns and point-of-sale materials.
- Monitor stock levels and minimize stockouts and product returns.
4. Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotions and market trends.
- Identify opportunities for increased product distribution and market share.
- Submit regular sales reports, forecasts and customer visit reports.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales information.
5. Compliance & Operational Coordination
- Ensure adherence to pricing policies and formal retail channel requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure effective deliveries and stock availability.
- Maintain professional and ethical business relationships.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' FMCG sales experience, preferably within formal retail channels.
- Proven experience dealing with supermarkets, pharmacies, wholesalers and retail chains.
- Strong understanding of FMCG sales operations and retail merchandising.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel extensively
