SUMMARY: The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis across the operational side of Seaboard Energy, including operating expense, SG&A, and capital. This position sits within the Financial Planning & Analysis team and serves as the financial business partner to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and the corporate support functions, translating cost, headcount, and project assumptions into a clear view of spend and earnings below gross margin. The role owns the flux analysis process and provides leadership with a consistent, well-supported explanation of what is driving results against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the operating expense, SG&A, and capital forecast models, and maintain consistent monthly and long-range reporting.
- Compile the annual budget process for OpEx, SG&A, and capital, partnering with cost center owners and department leaders to build and challenge assumptions.
- Manage variance (flux) analysis explaining variances to budget, forecast, and prior period with clear drivers for leadership.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and corporate functions to track spend against plan and flag risks and opportunities early.
- Support the capital process, including project tracking, spend forecasting, ROI/payback analysis, and post-completion review.
- Build scenario and sensitivity analysis around cost structure, headcount, maintenance timing, and capital spend.
- Maintain reporting, dashboards, and KPIs for cost center and functional leaders, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of recurring deliverables.
- Support month-end close activities through accrual review, financial reporting, account analysis, and collaboration with Accounting to ensure accurate financial results.
- Utilize AI-enabled tools and automation technologies to analyze information, improve reporting processes, and increase efficiency across recurring financial workflows.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business required
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), financial analysis, corporate finance, or related finance roles.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
- Strong experience performing variance analysis and identifying key business drivers impacting financial performance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables, and scenario analysis.
- Experience partnering with operational or functional business leaders to support financial decision-making.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business insights and recommendations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with leadership at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA, Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
- CPA, CMA, CFA, or other relevant professional certification.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, energy, agricultural processing, refining, renewable fuels, or other asset-intensive operations.
- Experience with capital planning, project economics, ROI analysis, and post-investment reviews.
- Experience supporting maintenance, engineering, operations, or reliability organizations.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence and data visualization tools.
- Experience building driver-based forecasting models.
- Experience with headcount planning and labor cost forecasting.
- Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, or advanced analytics to improve financial processes and reporting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is primarily office-based and requires the ability to perform work while seated for extended periods. The role involves frequent use of a computer, including prolonged viewing of a monitor and continuous typing on a keyboard. Occasional walking within the office and light handling of documents or office supplies (under 15 lbs) may be required. The employee must have adequate visual acuity for reading and data entry and the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person interactions. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for their work areas.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional adjustments to the schedule may be required to support operational needs, budgeting and forecasting cycles, month-end activities, plant initiatives, or other business priorities. This position will require travel up to 10% of the time for site visits, meetings, training, and other business-related purposes.
