About Seera
Seera is building the leading Arabic-language microdrama streaming platform for the Middle East and North Africa. We produce and stream short, vertical, episodic drama made for mobile, and monetize through a hybrid model: coins to unlock episodes plus subscription (SVOD).
We're headquartered in Dubai and run a fully distributed engineering team across Ukraine, Poland, Moldova and Azerbaijan. We're early, moving fast, and every engineer here shapes the product and the platform it runs on.
The role
We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to own Seera's AWS infrastructure and the backend services that run on it. You'll make sure video reaches viewers fast and reliably across MENA, that payments and coin purchases never drop, and that our cloud bill grows slower than our audience.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership: you'll design, build, run and improve the platform, and set the infrastructure standards the rest of the team builds on. You'll report to the CTO.

What you'll do
- Own our AWS footprint end to end: networking, compute, storage, databases, IAM and security posture, across environments.
- Manage all infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK) and keep environments reproducible.
- Build and run the video delivery pipeline: upload, transcoding, packaging (HLS) and CDN distribution via S3, MediaConvert and CloudFront, tuned for mobile networks in the Gulf and North Africa.
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs for catalog, playback, user accounts, coin wallets and subscriptions.
- Keep payment flows reliable, including app store billing and direct carrier billing (DCB) integrations with regional operators.
- Own CI/CD pipelines so the team can ship safely several times a day.
- Set up monitoring, logging, alerting and on-call practices; lead incident response and write blameless postmortems.
- Drive cloud cost efficiency with clear dashboards, budgets and right-sizing, especially for CDN egress and storage.
- Plan for scale and launch spikes: load testing, autoscaling, caching and capacity planning.
- Mentor engineers on the distributed team and raise the bar on reliability and security.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of backend engineering, with at least 3 years owning production infrastructure on AWS.
- Deep, hands-on AWS experience: VPC, EC2 and/or ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, IAM, SQS/SNS.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Production experience in at least one backend language such as Go, Node.js/TypeScript, Python or Java.
- Solid grasp of containers, Docker and CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar).
- Experience with observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana/Prometheus or similar) and running on-call for systems with real users.
- Security-first habits: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, encryption and audit logging.
- Comfort working asynchronously on a distributed team, with clear written communication in English.
Nice to have
- Video streaming experience: HLS/DASH, adaptive bitrate, DRM, MediaConvert or Elemental, or multi-CDN setups.
- Payments experience, especially in-app purchases, subscriptions or direct carrier billing in MENA.
- Experience with AWS regions in the Middle East (me-central-1 UAE, me-south-1 Bahrain) and data residency requirements.
- Kubernetes (EKS) in production.
- Experience at an early-stage startup, building from zero to scale.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional).
- Arabic is a plus but not required.
