Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Architectural Technologist/Technician with proven expertise in complex technical delivery, ideally within data centre or mission-critical environments.

This role sits within our Design Engineering function, located in Wokingham, Berkshire.

The successful candidate will take a role in the technical development and delivery of projects, translating design intent into coordinated, buildable solutions. You will work closely with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient project delivery through RIBA Stages 3–5.

This role requires a detail-driven professional with strong Revit capability, excellent coordination skills, and a solid understanding of construction methodologies and building systems.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Project Support

  • Development of detailed design and technical packages from Stage 3 through Stage 4 and into construction

  • Translate architectural concepts into fully coordinated technical information

  • Manage and contribute to the production of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules

  • Support the preparation of tender information and contractor packages

  • Actively contribute during construction stages (RIBA Stage 5), including:

  • Responding to RFIs

  • Reviewing contractor proposals and shop drawings

  • Resolving on-site technical challenges

  • Apply knowledge of data centre design principles, including:

  • Integration of MEP systems

  • Coordination of plant spaces and service zones

  • Understanding of resilience, redundancy, and operational requirements

  • Coordinate complex interfaces between architectural, structural, and MEP systems

  • Ensure designs accommodate highly serviced environments and technical constraints

Coordination & Compliance

  • Coordination with multidisciplinary consultants, ensuring design integration
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes
  • Maintain high levels of quality control and document accuracy
  • Identify and resolve clashes through proactive coordination (Revit / BIM workflows)

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ professional experience in the UK or similar regulatory environment
  • Proven track record delivering projects through RIBA Stages 3–5
  • Demonstrable experience working on data centres or other highly serviced / complex buildings
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction detailing, materials, and systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination tools
