Shipping Team Lead & Automation Fleet Manager
Employer: Rise Automation
Workplace: Embedded full-time at Groupe Classique International
Location: Laval, Québec — on site, full time
Team: Lead a shipping team of 3
Compensation: 25$-35$ per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday (7 am-4 pm)
The Opportunity
Rise Automation builds practical automation systems for manufacturing teams, including robotics, cameras, and software that make real operations safer, more consistent, and more productive.
We are looking for a hands-on shipping leader to run Groupe Classique International's shipping department in Laval. You will lead a team of three, keep product moving, and make sure shipping work meets Classique's standards every day.
After you have learned the department and established a strong, reliable operation, you will take on a second role with Rise: helping identify, design, test, and operate automation improvements in the shipping department.
This is not an automation project on day one. First, you will become the person who knows the shipping operation inside and out. Then, you will help shape how technology supports that work.
As Rise's first Automation Fleet Manager placement, you will help develop a model that may expand to future manufacturing partners and departments.
Your Role
Phase 1: Lead the Shipping Department
- Lead, support, and coordinate a shipping team of three throughout each shift.
- Assign work, set priorities, and make sure everyone understands the plan for the day.
- Manage the flow of completed products through packaging, staging, and shipment.
- Ensure outgoing products are packaged, labelled, organized, and ready to ship to Classique's standards.
- Review upcoming shipments and adjust priorities as deadlines or issues change.
- Identify and resolve delays, bottlenecks, missing information, and quality issues.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shipping area.
- Communicate clearly with management and other departments when issues affect delivery, quality, or workflow.
- Learn every major task in the department and build a strong understanding of how work moves from completion to shipment.
- Help the department consistently meet quality, service, and productivity expectations.
Phase 2: Help Automate Shipping
Once the shipping department is operating smoothly under your leadership, you will work with Rise to:
- Document the work performed by you and your team.
- Break shipping processes into clear, repeatable steps.
- Identify repetitive, manual, time-consuming, or inefficient tasks.
- Explain the decisions people make during normal workflows and the exceptions that change those workflows.
- Provide practical feedback on robotics, camera, and software solutions.
- Help test, improve, and roll out new processes and automation systems.
- Help create standardized workflows that technology can perform or support.
- Eventually oversee and operate the automation systems introduced in the department.
What You Bring
- Experience leading or coordinating people in shipping, warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, or a similar hands-on environment.
- A practical, organized approach to managing daily priorities and solving problems.
- Clear communication and the ability to work well with both front-line teams and management.
- Comfort working on the floor in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to notice where work slows down, breaks down, or becomes harder than it needs to be.
- An interest in improving processes and learning new systems.
- The ability to explain how work is done, why it is done that way, and what changes when exceptions occur.
- Reliability, accountability, and pride in owning a department's results.
Previous robotics, automation, or AI experience is not required. We care more about your operational judgment, leadership, willingness to learn, and ability to improve how work gets done.
Reporting and Employment
You will be employed by Rise Automation and work full-time on site at Groupe Classique International in Laval. You will lead the shipping department in close partnership with Classique management and work directly with the Rise team as the role expands into automation.
About Rise Automation
Rise builds and operates robotics, camera, and software systems for factories.
We believe the best people to help automate a department are often the people who understand the work firsthand: how the day actually runs, what goes wrong, what cannot be delayed, and what good work looks like. That is why Rise creates opportunities for strong manufacturing and shipping leaders to grow into automation roles.
At Rise, our people are never asked to “figure out robotics” on their first day. We first take ownership of real departments, lead teams, and learn every part of the operation. Then we help identify and implement practical improvements—including robotics, computer vision, and software—that make those departments work better.
Why This Role is Different
This is more than a traditional shipping supervisor role. You will lead a real operation, build credibility through strong day-to-day execution, and then help introduce robotics, computer vision, and software in the environment where you already know the work, the people, and the problems.
You will be helping define what an Automation Fleet Manager looks like at Rise—and creating experience that can lead to future opportunities across Rise's manufacturing partner network.
