Job Summary

The Shuttering Foreman is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing all formwork and shuttering activities as per approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules. The role involves managing shuttering carpenters and helpers, ensuring safe work practices, and coordinating with steel fixing and concreting teams to achieve project targets.

Key Responsibilities

Formwork & Shuttering Execution

  • Supervise erection, alignment, leveling, and dismantling of shuttering/formwork systems.
  • Execute slab, beam, column, wall, staircase, and foundation shuttering as per approved drawings.
  • Ensure proper supports, bracing, staging, and stability before concreting.
  • Verify dimensions, line, level, and plumb before concrete pouring.
  • Monitor stripping and reuse of formwork materials as per approved procedures.

Manpower Management

  • Lead and supervise shuttering carpenters, helpers, and labor teams.
  • Allocate daily work targets and monitor productivity.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and resources.
  • Train workers on correct formwork practices and safety requirements.

Coordination & Planning

  • Coordinate with steel foremen, concrete supervisors, survey teams, and engineers.
  • Ensure formwork readiness as per casting schedules.
  • Participate in daily planning and progress review meetings.
  • Resolve site execution issues affecting productivity and quality.

Quality Control

  • Inspect shuttering before engineer/QA-QC inspection.
  • Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, levels, and surface finish requirements.
  • Prevent leakage, bulging, misalignment, honeycombing, and dimensional deviations.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE usage.
  • Ensure safe erection and dismantling of formwork.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safe work environments.

Material & Equipment Management

  • Monitor consumption and availability of plywood, aluminum panels, props, clamps, tie rods, and accessories.
  • Minimize material wastage and damage.
  • Maintain records of material usage and inventory.
  • Ensure proper storage and maintenance of shuttering materials.

Qualifications

  • ITI / Diploma in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Certification or training in Conventional, Aluminum Formwork, Mivan, or Formwork Systems is an advantage.
  • Ability to read structural and formwork drawings.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Shuttering Foreman.
  • Experience in high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience in Conventional Formwork, Aluminum Formwork (Mivan), and RCC structures preferred.
