About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer to join our product development team and help build, enhance, and scale SaaS applications and integrations across productivity ecosystems.
Our current primary focus is the Google Workspace ecosystem, including applications and add-ons integrating with products such as Google Drive, Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Workspace Admin, and related Google APIs.
Over time, the role will also involve building applications and integrations for other platforms and ecosystems such as Dropbox, Microsoft 365, Slack, and other SaaS platforms.
This is not a role where requirements are simply handed over for coding. We are looking for someone who will be actively involved throughout the complete product development lifecycle — understanding the business problem, refining requirements, evaluating technical approaches, implementing the solution, testing it thoroughly, and helping continuously improve the product.
What You’ll DoProduct & Requirements Refinement
- Work closely with founders/product stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into clear technical solutions.
- Actively participate in requirements refinement rather than simply implementing predefined specifications.
- Identify missing scenarios, edge cases, technical constraints, scalability concerns, and potential user experience issues before development begins.
- Challenge requirements constructively when there is a simpler, more scalable, secure, or maintainable way to solve the problem.
- Help break larger product requirements into well-defined technical tasks and implementation phases.
Solution Design & Development
- Design and develop applications, add-ons, integrations, and backend services primarily within the Google Workspace ecosystem.
- Work extensively with Google APIs such as Google Drive, Gmail, Sheets, Workspace Admin SDK, OAuth, and other relevant Google services.
- Evaluate multiple possible implementation approaches and select the solution that provides the best balance of:
- performance
- scalability
- reliability
- maintainability
- security
- API quota efficiency
- development effort
- Build solutions capable of handling both small organizations and large enterprise environments with significant volumes of users and data.
- Design reliable background jobs, batching mechanisms, retry handling, rate-limit management, and failure recovery where required.
- Develop integrations for additional ecosystems such as Dropbox, Microsoft 365, Slack, and other SaaS platforms as the product portfolio expands.
- Write clean, modular, well-documented, and maintainable code.
AI-Assisted Development
- Be comfortable using modern AI development tools to improve engineering productivity and development quality.
- Use tools such as AI coding assistants, LLMs, code-generation tools, debugging assistants, and AI-based development workflows where appropriate.
- Use AI thoughtfully for tasks such as:
- understanding unfamiliar APIs
- generating implementation alternatives
- code reviews
- debugging
- test-case generation
- documentation
- refactoring
- Be able to critically evaluate AI-generated output rather than relying on it without validation.
- Continuously explore new development tools and techniques that can improve product quality and engineering efficiency.
Quality Assurance & Reliability
Quality ownership is a core part of this role.
The developer will be expected to thoroughly validate their own work before considering a feature complete.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating comprehensive test scenarios covering normal flows, edge cases, failure conditions, and large-data situations.
- Performing detailed functional and integration testing.
- Testing different user roles, permissions, Workspace configurations, and authorization scenarios where applicable.
- Ensuring changes do not introduce regressions into existing functionality.
- Testing solutions against realistic production-scale scenarios wherever possible.
- Identifying scenarios that could cause partial execution, duplicate operations, API quota exhaustion, timeouts, or data inconsistencies.
- Implementing appropriate logging, monitoring, retry, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Investigating bugs systematically and resolving the underlying cause rather than applying temporary fixes.
The expectation is that a developer takes end-to-end responsibility for the quality of the feature they build.
Engineering Mindset We Are Looking For
We value engineers who think beyond simply making something work.
You should naturally ask questions such as:
- Is there a more efficient way to implement this?
- What happens when this runs for 10 users versus 10,000 users?
- What happens if an API call fails halfway through?
- Are we making unnecessary API calls?
- How will this behave under API quota or rate limits?
- What edge cases have we not considered?
- Could this design become difficult to maintain six months from now?
- How can we make the experience simpler for the end user?
- How can we test this thoroughly before releasing it?
We are looking for someone who brings this mindset proactively.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with some of the following would be highly valuable:
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- Node.js
- React or modern frontend frameworks
- REST APIs
- OAuth 2.0 and authentication flows
- Google Workspace APIs
- Google Drive API
- Gmail API
- Google Sheets API
- Google Workspace Admin SDK
- Google Cloud Platform
- Firebase / Firestore
- Background processing and asynchronous jobs
- API pagination, batching, quotas, and rate-limit handling
- SaaS integrations
- Database design
- Git / GitHub
- Cloud deployment and production debugging
Experience specifically with Google Workspace development is valuable, but strong engineers with solid experience building API-driven SaaS applications and integrations are also encouraged to apply.
