Warehouse & Production Manager
Location: Irvine Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Department: Warehouse, Distribution & Production Team: Warehouse Operatives & Production Technicians
Alerta Medical is a world-leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, cutting-edge medical equipment for the healthcare market. Our products help care providers proactively maximise patient safety and comfort — primarily within hospital wards and care environments.
Founded on the belief that prevention is better than cure, Alerta Medical is a well-established, family-run business experiencing rapid growth of 20–50% year-on-year.
We are now looking for a motivated and experienced Warehouse & Production Manager to join our growing team in Irvine and play a key role in supporting the continued success and development of our warehouse, distribution and production operations.
The Opportunity
This is a key leadership role within our operation, responsible for the day-to-day management of our warehouse, distribution and production activities.
You’ll lead a team of Warehouse Operatives and Production Technicians, ensuring we have the right people in the right place, orders are picked and despatched accurately and on time, stock is controlled effectively, and our products are manufactured to the highest standards.
Most importantly, you’ll be a hands-on leader. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, supporting their team and making sure the operation delivers.
What will you be responsible for?
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the warehouse and production operation, including:
- Leading, motivating and developing our warehouse and production teams
- Planning and deploying staff to meet daily workload and production requirements
- Overseeing goods in, picking, packing and despatch
- Ensuring orders are completed accurately, on time and in full
- Managing stock accuracy, storage, labelling and stock rotation
- Overseeing the production and assembly of Alertamat and hybrid products
- Maintaining high production and quality standards – Quality 1st, Quantity 2nd
- Managing the end-to-end warehouse process for customer returns and faulty products
- Working closely with the office, Sales and Customer Service teams to resolve operational issues
- Monitoring productivity, quality and operational KPIs and taking action where required
- Managing holidays, overtime, staffing levels and agency cover
- Delivering team briefings, 1-to-1s, appraisals, coaching and training
- Maintaining excellent standards of health & safety, housekeeping and workplace organisation
- Supporting stock takes, audits, container loads/unloads and peak operational periods
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, layout, efficiency and productivity
- Ensuring the warehouse and production environment remains safe, organised and effective
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who can lead from the front and who understands what it takes to run an efficient warehouse and production environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience managing a warehouse, production or operations team
- Strong knowledge of warehouse and distribution processes
- Experience of goods in/out, picking, packing, despatch and inventory control
- Experience of production, assembly or light manufacturing
- Previous responsibility for managing and developing employees
- A good understanding of Health & Safety and manual handling requirements
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems and Microsoft systems
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership
- A positive, proactive and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to remain calm and effective when things get busy
A valid forklift licence is required. First Aid, Manual Handling, IOSH (or similar) and experience of managing and developing people would also be highly advantageous.
What kind of leader are we looking for?
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk and simply monitor reports.
We need a visible, approachable and accountable leader who will work alongside the team, set clear expectations and make things happen.
You’ll be someone who:
- Leads by example – you’re not afraid to get involved and support the team when required.
- Takes ownership – when something goes wrong, you look for the solution rather than the excuse.
- Cares about quality – you understand that getting things right is more important than simply getting things out of the door.
- Develops people – you know that a successful operation starts with a capable, motivated and engaged team.
- Thinks ahead – you can anticipate workload, staffing requirements and potential bottlenecks before they become problems.
- Looks for better ways of working – you’re naturally curious about how processes can be improved.
Why join Alerta Medical?
This is an exciting opportunity to take a key leadership role within a fast-growing, family-run business where your contribution will have a genuine impact.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape how our warehouse and production operation works, develop a team and drive improvements across quality, productivity, stock accuracy and customer service.
You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and colleagues across the wider business, playing an important part in ensuring our innovative medical products are manufactured, managed and delivered to the high standards our customers expect.

If you’re an experienced warehouse, production or operations professional looking for your next challenge – and you’re ready to take ownership of a busy, varied and important operation – we’d love to hear from you.
