South Plains Electric Cooperative is seeking a full time System Operator Trainee to join our Operations team. This role is critical to ensuring reliable electric service for our members by monitoring and controlling the distribution system, coordinating field crews, and responding to outages and emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for efficient radio and SCADA operations by maintaining effective communications with field supervisors and other personnel.
- Monitor and operate SCADA and OMS systems to maintain system reliability.
- Dispatch crews and communicate effectively during outages and emergency situations.
- Analyze system maps and identify areas of power failure.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of system events.
- Provide after-hours member service support, including:
- Responding to member inquiries and outage reports.
- Assisting with account information and service requests.
- Taking member payments.
- Ensuring timely and courteous communication with members.
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn SCADA/OMS software.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
