We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Software Engineer / Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance SaaS applications. The role involves leading backend development, designing distributed systems, making architecture decisions, and solving complex engineering challenges to improve product reliability and scalability.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in backend engineering, system design, microservices, and cloud infrastructure. This role also requires technical leadership, mentoring engineers, establishing engineering best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Architecture and Design: Design scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures that support business requirements and long-term product growth.
- Backend Development: Lead the development of robust backend services and applications using Java, Python, Go, or other suitable programming languages.
- Distributed Systems: Design, build, and maintain distributed systems and microservices to support high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- System Design: Develop architectural solutions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and establish design patterns for complex software systems.
- API Development: Design and implement efficient, secure, and scalable APIs to support seamless communication between services and applications.
- Database Optimization: Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and data storage systems to improve query performance and application efficiency.
- Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and implement improvements to reduce latency and increase system throughput.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Develop and maintain cloud-based infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and scalable application environments.
- CI/CD and Automation: Improve continuous integration and continuous deployment processes to enable reliable releases and efficient engineering workflows.
- System Reliability and Observability: Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions to improve system visibility, availability, and incident response.
- Code Quality and Reviews: Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, and promote testing practices and maintainable software development.
- Technical Mentoring: Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support team members in solving complex engineering problems.
- Technical Decision-Making: Lead architecture discussions, evaluate technologies, and make informed engineering decisions aligned with product and business goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, security, infrastructure, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve development processes, system architecture, engineering productivity, and overall product quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 7–12 years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Programming Expertise: Strong proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or similar backend programming languages.
- Backend Engineering: Extensive experience developing production-grade backend applications, services, and APIs.
- System Design: Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable architectures, distributed systems, and microservices.
- Database Knowledge: Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching strategies, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Cloud and DevOps: Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and production operations.
- Observability: Familiarity with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and system performance analysis.
- Engineering Best Practices: Experience with code reviews, automated testing, design reviews, and software quality standards.
- Technical Leadership: Proven ability to mentor engineers, guide technical decisions, and deliver complex engineering projects.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams.
