We are looking for a RAMS Engineer to strengthen our safety and compliance team, with a particular emphasis on safety engineering for our vehicles, propulsion systems, ground infrastructure, and operations.
RAMS covers Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety. This role will apply those principles across the full lifecycle of complex hardware and operational systems, helping ensure that hazards are identified early, risks are controlled, and safety requirements are supported by clear technical evidence.
Although the role sits within safety and compliance rather than systems engineering, you will need a strong systems-engineering background and experience working with high-reliability, high-safety, or mission-critical systems.
About us
We’re a Germany-based rocketry startup currently in stealth mode, scaling up rapidly to meet the demand for high-performance, reliable, and scalable solid propulsion technologies for space and defense applications.
We are already launching suborbital and ballistic rockets on a regular basis, generating significant revenue and applying our knowledge toward the development of an orbital rocket.
We are working hard to build something truly spectacular.
To thrive here you will need to be comfortable working at pace, with the autonomy to make decisions and execute on them quickly. If you’re excited by hard technical challenges and want a role where you will make a real difference each day to the future of the company, we may be the place for you.
At our company, job titles and career progression are earned, not determined by years of experience alone. They reflect the responsibility you take on and the dedication you bring to each project. If you’re ready to rise to the challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and develop RAMS and safety-engineering processes across vehicles, propulsion systems, ground systems, facilities, and operations.
- Define, manage, and verify reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety requirements throughout the system lifecycle.
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, failure-mode analysis, fault-tree analysis, and other structured safety assessments.
- Develop and maintain safety cases, hazard logs, RAMS plans, safety assessments, compliance evidence, and technical justifications.
- Work with systems, propulsion, avionics, test, manufacturing, operations, and suppliers to identify hazards and implement effective risk controls.
- Support design reviews, test-readiness reviews, operational-readiness activities, incident investigations, change control, and corrective actions.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in RAMS, safety engineering, reliability engineering, or systems engineering for high-reliability, high-safety, or mission-critical systems.
- Experience analysing complex hardware and operational systems, including interfaces, failure modes, hazards, and system-level risks.
- Strong understanding of safety-engineering methods and the ability to turn analysis into practical design and operational controls.
- Experience producing clear technical documentation, safety arguments, risk assessments, compliance evidence, and engineering reports.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to challenge technical decisions and work effectively with specialist engineering and operational teams.
- A degree in systems engineering, safety engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be relevant.
Desirable experience
- RAMS or safety engineering within aerospace, space, defence, rocketry, missile systems, nuclear, rail, energy, automotive, or another high-consequence industry.
- Experience with FMEA, FMECA, fault-tree analysis, hazard analysis, HAZOP, STPA, bow-tie analysis, or similar techniques.
- Safety cases, functional-safety assessments, reliability predictions, maintainability analysis, or probabilistic risk assessment.
- Propulsion systems, solid rocket motors, hazardous materials, explosives, test stands, launch operations, or high-energy systems.
- Experience supporting verification and validation, qualification, acceptance testing, configuration control, and engineering change processes.
- Familiarity with applicable aerospace, defence, functional-safety, quality, or hazardous-operations standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Fluent German would be a significant advantage in this position.
Benefits and important information:
- We offer top-decile compensation packages, bonuses and meaningful equity, to attract exceptional aerospace talent.
- Every employee is awarded stock options in the company, you will directly benefit from your own hard work and success.
- Comprehensive relocation support including flights, shipping and visas.
- Lunch, dinner and drinks provided everyday
- Free access to shared company housing
Please note, we are a fast paced, hyper-scaling startup. You will need to be comfortable working extended hours with high levels of autonomy, ownership, and flexibility, with contracts structured around a 48-hour working week.
We are committed to building an equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, has equal access to opportunity, and can thrive. We welcome different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences—and believe our differences make us stronger.
