Commercial Manager

Northamptonshire County Cricket Club are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Commercial Manager to lead and develop the Club's commercial operations. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving revenue growth across multiple business areas, including corporate events, hospitality, ticketing, retail, marketing, and venue sales.

The successful candidate will develop and implement innovative commercial strategies that maximise income, enhance customer engagement, and strengthen the Club's brand presence. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the Commercial Manager will play a key role in achieving the Club's commercial objectives and delivering measurable return on investment across all commercial activities.

Commercial Development & Venue Sales

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive commercial strategy to drive revenue growth across the Club and cinch County Ground.
  • Proactively promote and sell the venue for corporate events, conferences, hospitality packages, and cricket-related functions.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through networking, relationship building, and targeted sales activity.
  • Design and implement sales strategies to increase venue utilisation and commercial performance.
  • Lead, motivate, and support the sales team in managing inbound enquiries and converting leads into confirmed business.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide regular reporting against commercial targets.
  • Working closely with the Operations & Events Manager

Marketing & Brand Management

  • Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns supporting cricket, events, ticketing, and retail activities.
  • Oversee the production of marketing collateral, including print, digital, social media, advertising, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including the ECB, external agencies, and commercial partners to maximise promotional opportunities.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all Club communications and customer touchpoints.
  • Manage marketing budgets efficiently and monitor campaign effectiveness through performance metrics and ROI analysis.

Ticketing & Customer Experience

  • Oversee all ticketing operations, including season ticket fulfilment, fixture setup, event management, and reporting.
  • Manage ticket office operations to ensure exceptional customer service standards.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of ticket sales performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in customer service standards across all commercial areas.

Retail Operations

  • Develop and grow the Club's retail offering, maximising sales opportunities both online and on-site.
  • Monitor retail performance and identify opportunities to enhance customer experience and revenue generation.
  • Ensure retail areas are professionally presented, welcoming, and aligned with Club branding.
  • Support the COO and wider commercial team on strategic projects and business initiatives.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a commercial, sales, marketing, or business development role.
  • Strong track record of generating revenue and achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills.
  • Experience managing marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate performance and ROI.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM, ticketing, or marketing systems.

Desirable

  • Experience within sport, events, hospitality, leisure, or venue management.
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems, retail operations, and digital marketing platforms.
  • Experience working with governing bodies or agencies.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Revenue growth across events, hospitality, ticketing, and retail.
  • Venue sales conversion rates and event bookings.
  • Customer satisfaction and service delivery standards.
  • Ticket sales and membership retention.
  • Marketing campaign performance and ROI.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across all departments to achieve commercial objectives.

What Success Looks Like

The Commercial Manager will deliver sustainable revenue growth, increase utilisation of cinch County Ground as a premier events venue, enhance the Club's brand presence, and ensure an exceptional customer experience across all commercial touchpoints while supporting the wider strategic objectives of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.

Role information

Job Type: Permanent, 40 hours per week, including occasional evening and weekend working during the cricket season and major events.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer.
