About Us

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician to join their Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining industrial doors and docking equipment at customer sites. The role requires strong technical skills, a focus on safety and quality, and the ability to work independently while supporting junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Installations and Site Assessments: Inspect customer sites, take measurements, assess installation requirements, prepare tools and materials, complete risk assessments and install industrial door and docking equipment safely and efficiently.
- Repairs and Maintenance: Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and servicing on mechanical and electrical components, and ensure that installations and repairs meet the required quality standards.
- Safety, Quality and Customer Service: Follow Occupational Health and Safety procedures, ensure proper handover of installations, maintain tools and vehicles, provide excellent customer service and assist junior technicians when required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric with English and Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification.
- Technical Trade Certificate.
- A tertiary trade qualification will be an advantage.
Technical Requirements:
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- Valid forklift licence.
- Working at Heights qualification is essential.
- Risk Assessment qualification.
- First Aid Level 1 qualification.
- Scaffolding Erection and Inspection qualification.
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools.
- Welding skills; a welding qualification will be an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Junior Field Technician, or
- Minimum of 3 years' technical, electrical or industrial working experience.
- Experience with mechanical and electrical repairs, installations and maintenance will be advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for installations and repairs.
- Good communication skills and fluency in English.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong planning, time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work at heights and meet the physical demands of the role.
- Good leadership skills and willingness to guide and support junior team members.
- Professional conduct and excellent customer service.
- Commitment to safety procedures, quality standards and teamwork.
