Before You Apply
This is an internship with real ownership. We're in healthcare accreditation: the products our team builds are used by hospitals, surgeons, and accreditation reviewers who depend on them to do work that affects patient safety. That means the design work you do here isn't a mock exercise. It ships, and people use it.
That's not meant to intimidate you. It's context, and we think it's worth knowing before you apply. We hire interns for attitude first, and the traits below are what we see in the interns who get the most out of their time with us. If they sound like where you're at today, we'd love to hear from you.
What We Look For
You take a design problem and run with it. When you're stuck, you ask instead of quietly guessing for a week, and when you finish a piece of work, you follow up to see how it landed.
You care about the details: spacing, consistency, whether a flow actually makes sense to someone using it for the first time. You'd rather ask a clarifying question than ship something that looks right but isn't.
You can hear “this needs another pass” without taking it personally, and you can explain your own design decisions clearly, whether you're talking to a senior designer or someone on the product team.
You're genuinely curious about why users do what they do, not just what the finished screen should look like. You look things up, ask about tools you haven't used, and treat feedback as something to use rather than something to defend.

Skills & Experience You'll Bring
We're looking for candidates who already have some hands-on exposure to the following, through coursework, internships, personal projects, or work experience:
- Proficiency with a design tool like Figma or Canva.
- Practical experience with front-end fundamentals like HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
- A portfolio or project samples that show your design process, not just finished screens.
Your Impact and Responsibilities
As a UI/UX Design Intern, you'll contribute to the design and user experience of digital products used across our accreditation programs. You'll own pieces of real projects (with mentorship, not micromanagement) from research through to final design.
- Assist in creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
- Conduct user research, analyze feedback, and participate in usability testing.
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and senior designers to refine user flows and interface elements.
- Ensure designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain visual coherence.
- Utilize design tools like Figma or Canva to create and iterate on designs.
- Provide regular updates to the team, maintaining clear communication on progress and milestones.
- Stay updated on UI/UX best practices, emerging trends, and industry standards.
