Surlamer Investments is a private investment management firm with a portfolio spanning algorithmic hedge funds, public markets, and technology-driven private ventures. We’ve developed a spin-out company to commercialize an AI-empowered trading research and ideation platform that combines proprietary algorithms, LLMs, and quantitative analysis to support institutional investment decision-making.
We are seeking a highly motivated, analytically minded full-stack engineer with experience leading software engineering teams and setting technical direction. Strong working knowledge of finance and capital markets is required, including fundamental equity analysis, valuation, and options and derivatives. Candidates should understand the financial logic behind the models they implement, not simply translate specifications into code.
Candidates must also have hands-on experience across frontend/UI, backend systems, and databases, including Python, TypeScript, and Next.js or React, with a strong understanding of UI/UX principles. Experience integrating institutional financial data sources into applications or data pipelines is a strong plus, including Bloomberg API, Bloomberg financial data, S&P Capital IQ, or comparable platforms.

- Support development of risk frameworks, including scenario analysis and performance tracking
- Collaborate with investment and leadership teams to translate financial concepts and platform requirements into technical solutions
- Document methodologies, assumptions, system architecture, and technical decisions
- Evaluate and implement new capabilities in agentic AI, LLMs, and financial engineering to enhance the platform
