Software Developer — AI, Automation & Business Improvement

Full-time, permanent | Office-based in Poole
Working hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (42.5 working hours per week).
This role is office-based only; hybrid and remote working are not available.
HELP US MOVE OUR BUSINESS FORWARD
Swift Heating Solutions already has its own business app. We’re looking for a practical, commercially minded software developer to take ownership of improving it, developing its capabilities and making it more useful for everyone in the business.
Working directly with the owner, office team, sales staff and engineers, you’ll understand our existing workflows, identify what could work better and deliver improvements to our app, connected systems and business processes.
You’ll bring your own ideas and help us use ChatGPT, Claude and automation to support growth and improve how we work.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Improve our existing business app
- Understand the current app and build on what’s already in place.
- Develop features that simplify everyday tasks.
- Improve usability, speed and reliability, and resolve recurring problems.
- Take improvements from initial discussion through development, testing, release and ongoing maintenance.
Work with everyone in the business
- Work directly with the owner, office team, sales staff and engineers to understand their day-to-day work.
- Observe how tasks are completed, gather ideas and identify delays, repeated work and unnecessary administration.
- Turn feedback into practical improvements to our app, systems and processes.
- Train colleagues and follow up to check that changes are making their work easier.
Use AI and automation
- Build practical workflows using ChatGPT, Claude and other suitable tools.
- Connect systems and reduce repeated data entry.
- Improve enquiries, quote follow-ups, scheduling, customer communication and reporting.
- Check AI output and ensure automated processes are accurate, reliable and appropriately supervised.
Support business growth
- Build reporting that helps us understand performance and make better decisions.
- Improve tracking of enquiry sources and sales conversions.
- Identify opportunities to improve our website’s usability, speed and technical SEO, working with external specialists where needed.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Proven experience developing, improving and maintaining existing web applications.
- Strong software development skills, including APIs and databases.
- Advanced practical knowledge of ChatGPT and Claude, including AI coding tools and business workflows.
- The ability to review, debug, test and maintain AI-assisted code.
- Experience simplifying business processes and delivering useful automations.
- Sound judgement around security, customer information and reliable software releases.
- Clear communication with colleagues at different levels of technical confidence.
- Initiative, commercial awareness and the ability to take responsibility for delivery.
Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, mobile-friendly applications or field-service businesses would be useful. Knowledge of technical SEO, website analytics and conversion improvement would also be an advantage.
