Synerise is not just another tech company. It is a space where our brilliant team consequently brings technology change to the business world and instead of following known paths, we are creating a new one – a next-generation, fully personalized and AI-driven customer experience.
We successfully deliver an all-in-one tool - Synerise (YouTube link). An ever-evolving behavioral data platform, enhanced by AI to generate outstanding ROI in more than 30 markets for industry leaders in Retail, Banking, eCommerce, Automotive, Insurance, and Telco, processing more than 150 billion transactions annually. However, we don't limit ourselves solely to this solution. We're building BaseModel (website link) - a foundation model for behavioral data embedded within a novel platform for enterprise Data Science teams, that is another step on our path to create innovation in AI and demonstrate its potential for the business world.
Having such great solutions, we are looking for a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our brave and brilliant Synerise Team. See if you fit our diverse and dynamic environment, where we constantly evolve together with the growth of our clients.
What will you do on a daily basis?
-
Own the reliability, scalability and cost of production infrastructure on Azure and GCP: Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, networking, and the CI/CD and GitOps tooling around them. Design and deliver changes to it end-to-end, from the first idea to running in production.
-
Run and evolve multi-terabyte databases and data-streaming systems that a real-time, multi-tenant product depends on, covering capacity, replication, upgrades and recovery.
-
Plan capacity ahead of growth and seasonal retail peaks, so new customers and peak traffic land smoothly.
-
Shape how traffic reaches and moves through the platform: API gateway, service mesh, edge (CDN, WAF), and secure connectivity for internal services and customers.
-
Respond to production incidents across the whole stack, from network and OS to databases and applications, and turn what you learn into lasting improvements to the platform.
-
Work with backend and security engineers on architecture and security, including access control, hardening, vulnerability remediation and SOC 2 / ISO 27001 requirements.
Challenges you'll have a chance to tackle with the team
-
Peaks across many brands at once. Retail peaks like Black Friday hit many global brands at the same time, and the platform has to absorb the spike in real time.
-
Failures customers don't notice. Engineer the platform so that losing a node, a zone or a dependency doesn't affect customers, and systems recover on their own.
-
Observability at scale. A self-hosted observability stack (Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Grafana) taking in over 20 TB of logs a day and around 50 million active metric series. The goal is sharper signals and faster incident response.
What will make us a perfect match?
-
In-depth Linux administration: systemd and services, processes and resource limits, storage and filesystems, kernel tuning, and troubleshooting CPU, memory, disk and network performance.
-
Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, L4/L7 load balancing).
-
Solid database fundamentals: SQL, and how databases work under the hood (WAL, replication, consistency, backup and recovery).
-
Comfortable with Bash/Python for everyday scripting and operations.
-
You learn unfamiliar technologies quickly, building on solid fundamentals, and often while already working with them.
-
You work comfortably in English, written and spoken.
You also have hands-on experience with most of these (you don't need all of them):
-
Owned production systems on a public cloud (Azure and/or GCP), leading incidents through to the fix.
-
Production Kubernetes: networking, resources and scheduling, upgrades, troubleshooting.
-
Responsible for stateful systems in production, such as databases or message brokers.
-
Designed IaC and CI/CD/GitOps tooling that other teams rely on (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD, GitLab CI).
-
Hands-on observability: metrics, logs, and alerts that people actually act on (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Loki).
What will convince us even more?
-
High-traffic, real-time systems, where latency and throughput are part of every decision.
-
Performance tuning across the stack (OS, network, databases, application runtimes), from profiling to measurable improvement.
-
Deep expertise in Kafka or a specific database engine (e.g. PostgreSQL, ClickHouse).
-
Istio or Kong (service mesh / API gateway).
-
FinOps: cost visibility and allocation, and capacity and commitment planning (reservations, savings plans).
-
Enterprise security and compliance requirements.
What can we provide for you?
-
Remote work in CET business hours, with on-site meetings in Kraków about 4 times a year.
-
Real influence on technical decisions, beyond your own team.
-
Ownership of whole areas of the platform, not just tickets.
-
A large-scale, real-time production platform used by global brands, built and run with strong engineers.
