Your mission
As an IT System and Support Engineer, you ensure the smooth daily operation of the internal IT landscape for a cloud provider focused on open source and digital sovereignty. You act as the central technical link between our infrastructure and our team members to guarantee a highly available and secure work environment. By providing efficient IT support and strategically automating internal processes, you empower our teams to maintain excellent performance across all hosting and cloud operations for our customers.
Requirements
- Solid practical experience in system administration and deep expertise in operating Linux systems and common tools (Debian, Nginx, LDAP, Postfix)
- Excellent skills in problem solving, error analysis, patch management, and the automation of routine administrative tasks (Bash, Python)
- Basic to advanced technical understanding of modern cloud ecosystems, container technologies, and CI/CD pipelines (OpenStack, Kubernetes, GitLab, Docker Compose)
- Methodical experience with Infrastructure as Code and monitoring tools is a highly valued addition to your technical profile (Terraform, OpenTofu, YAML)
- A focus on results and execution, combined with excellent teamwork skills, a strong service orientation, and the willingness to take technical ownership of IT assets
- Good German and English language skills, along with the willingness to work from our Berlin office one day a week
Your tasks
- Operating and maintaining the internal infrastructure, including patch management, system health checks, and performance monitoring of our cloud environments (Kubernetes, OpenStack)
- Handling standardized service requests, managing access rights, and keeping our technical knowledge base up to date (Confluence, LDAP)
- Collaborating on engineering projects to optimize internal IT processes through virtualization, containerization, and configuration management (Puppet, Docker)
- Ensuring smooth corporate IT operations, covering technical onboarding and offboarding, hardware procurement, and direct support in the Berlin office
- Resolving incidents via the ticketing system through structured error analysis, troubleshooting, and clear communication with our internal teams
- Managing and regularly validating backup and recovery processes to guarantee internal data integrity and high availability
