At Target Healthcare Group, we are pioneers, innovators, and lifesavers, committed to making a significant difference in the world of healthcare. As a group, we support our network of pharmaceutical manufacturers and distribution companies, working collaboratively to ensure patients receive high-quality, accessible medication. Our vision is to facilitate a world where every patient has access to the medication they need.

Today, we are one of the fastest growing healthcare companies in the UK, employing over 500 diverse professionals including Pharmacists, skilled Technicians, HR, IT, Procurement, Warehouse and Customer Service staff.

DevOps Engineer

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to build our DevOps capability from the ground up. Reporting to the Head of DevOps and Enterprise Architecture, you’ll work across our Azure, Microsoft 365, identity and network environments, while supporting the development of lightweight internal applications around our ERP and HRIS systems.

You’ll help automate infrastructure, establish CI/CD pipelines and make our HRIS the authoritative source of user identity, following our ‘wrap, don’t replace’ approach. Alongside technical delivery, you’ll champion modern engineering practices, including product-focused teams, lightweight governance and AI-assisted workflows, helping shape how we build, deploy and operate technology across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop internal applications and API integrations around our ERP and HRIS systems, following our ‘wrap, don’t replace’ approach.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code solutions to enable fast, reliable and automated delivery.
  • Manage and automate our cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, patching and cost optimisation.
  • Work with product teams to translate business requirements into working software, delivering improvements iteratively and gathering feedback.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, including pull requests, peer reviews, blameless post-mortems and lightweight governance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and AI-assisted development, introducing appropriate safeguards for use in a regulated environment.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, security, documentation and change traceability, contributing to technical decisions and the evolution of our engineering practices.

The environment

You will be working in a multi-site pharma manufacturing business, where the ERP and HRIS are the trusted systems of record. The opportunity lies in two places: modern, automated infrastructure that is secure and supportable, and lightweight, purpose-built tools around those core systems for our colleagues, customer automation, and internal operations.

This is greenfield territory. The CI/CD pipeline, infrastructure-as-code practices, the product team structure, and the engineering culture are all being established now, which means you will have real influence over how they take shape.

About You

We are looking for a technically strong engineer who can write good code, set a good example, and bring a team along with them as the way of working changes.

You will bring

  • Cloud and infrastructure expertise: Strong experience across Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and networking, including cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Automation and delivery: Experience with PowerShell or similar scripting, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code, ideally using Terraform or Bicep, with a focus on reliable, low-disruption change.
  • Development and integration: Hands-on experience developing applications and integrating APIs, ideally connecting HRIS platforms with Entra ID to automate joiner, mover and leaver processes.
  • Engineering leadership: The ability to champion modern engineering practices, including pull requests, peer reviews and lightweight governance, while bringing colleagues along with new ways of working.
  • AI and continuous improvement: A genuine interest in AI-assisted development and agentic tooling, with an understanding of how these can improve engineering efficiency and delivery.
  • Security and compliance: Strong attention to detail and an understanding of security, documentation and change traceability, ideally within a regulated environment.

Why Join Target Healthcare Group?

  • Build something from the ground up. Help establish our DevOps capability, automation practices and CI/CD pipelines, with real scope to shape how we work.
  • Make a tangible impact. Deliver technology that supports our colleagues, strengthens business operations and contributes to our wider healthcare mission.
  • Work with modern technology. Develop your expertise across Azure, infrastructure as code, API integration, CI/CD and AI-assisted engineering.
  • Grow with a business on the move. Join a rapidly growing healthcare group where your contribution can have a visible and lasting effect.
