Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – IT with strong experience in the insurance industry to lead complex technology projects and digital transformation initiatives from planning through successful implementation.
The role will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, product owners, vendors, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, within scope, and to agreed quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex IT and insurance technology projects.
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps.
- Manage project scope, objectives, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across IT, business operations, vendors, and third-party partners.
- Work closely with insurance functions including Underwriting, Claims, Policy Administration, Billing, Finance, Risk, and Operations.
- Lead system implementations, integrations, upgrades, migrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Manage Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Coordinate requirements gathering, solution delivery, testing, UAT, deployment, and transition to business operations.
- Maintain RAID logs and proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
- Manage change requests and assess their impact on scope, cost, resources, and timelines.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards, steering committee presentations, and executive updates.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, expenditure, and resource allocation.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, deliverables, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, IT governance, regulatory requirements, and project management standards.
- Drive stakeholder alignment, issue resolution, escalation management, and executive communication.
- Support change management, business readiness, user adoption, and post-implementation activities.
- Mentor Project Managers and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of IT/project management experience, with significant experience managing complex technology projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-level insurance technology implementations or transformation projects.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes such as policy administration, underwriting, claims, billing, and risk management.
- Experience managing large, cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong experience in project budgeting, forecasting, resource management, risk management, and governance.
- Proven experience working with internal teams, senior executives, clients, vendors, and third-party partners.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Experience with insurance technology platforms such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce, or comparable systems is an advantage.
