We work with packaging manufacturers and brand owners to enable high-performance fibre-based packaging through innovative coating science and practical industrial integration.

Position: Technical Business Developer (Equity-First Growth Role)

We are seeking a motivated Technical Business Developer to lead outreach, customer engagement, and early-stage commercialization of our coating technologies. This role is central to expanding adoption of our solutions in the packaging industry across Canada, North America, and global markets.

This is a high-growth, early-stage opportunity with an initial equity-based compensation model, transitioning to a competitive salary once the company establishes consistent commercial revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage potential customers in the paper, packaging, and molded-fibre-based materials industries
  • Conduct technical outreach via email, presentations, and virtual meetings
  • Introduce JSSI Innovative Coatings’ technology to packaging innovation and R&D teams
  • Coordinate product demonstrations, sample evaluations, and technical discussions
  • Support preparation of technical marketing materials, datasheets, and case studies
  • Build and manage a pipeline of industrial partners and early adopters
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to align customer needs with product capabilities
  • Assist in refining value propositions for different packaging applications

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Background in business development, materials science, chemical engineering, packaging, or related technical field
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to industrial customers
  • Experience in B2B sales, industrial outreach, or technology commercialization is an asset
  • Familiarity with packaging, paper manufacturing, coatings, or sustainable materials preferred
  • Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset comfortable in early-stage startup environments
  • Strong written communication skills for technical email outreach and proposals
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with R&D and leadership teams

Compensation Structure

  • Initial stage: Equity-based compensation (startup growth phase)
  • Future stage: Competitive salary + performance incentives once consistent revenue generation is achieved
  • Opportunity for long-term leadership role as the company scales
