About us:_
We are the Australian arm of a global manufacturer of ventilation solutions for mining and tunnelling. We’ve established our operation in Perth and are building a local manufacturing, technical and sales team to serve customers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
The role
We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader who can run our manufacturing floor and stand in front of customers. You’ll own the quality and output of our ventilation product range, from the chemistry and batching of the raw materials through to installation and training in the field. You’ll also be a credible technical voice with ventilation engineers, procurement teams and senior executives.
This role reports to the General Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing of our polymer-based ventilation tubing, assemblies, fans and parts
- Oversee material formulation, chemical make-up and batching to meet specification and quality standards
- Build and manage the production, maintenance and quality teams as we grow
- Drive process improvement, safety and ISO compliance on the shop floor
- Support the sales team as the technical authority, presenting to ventilation engineers, procurement and C-suite stakeholders
- Deliver customer training and oversee product installation on site
- Work with our global engineering and technology teams on product development and manufacturing support
- Manage production planning, inventory and costing through our ERP
What you’ll bring
Essential
- 5+ years’ experience in the ventilation products industry, covering selling, manufacturing, training and installation of products like ours
- Strong background in poly and plastics manufacturing
- Solid understanding of, and practical experience with, chemical formulation and batching
- Advanced experience with Ross EPC
- Advanced experience selling to ventilation engineers
- Proven ability to engage procurement teams and C-suite decision makers
- Demonstrated leadership of production teams in a safety-critical environment
- Experience in the Australian mining or tunnelling sector
Desirable
- Knowledge of ISO quality systems
- Experience setting up or scaling a new manufacturing operation
