Are you a Senior Java Developer looking for more than just another development role?
We're seeking an experienced engineer to join a major enterprise transformation program, developing the next generation of applications that support critical underwriting operations.
This is an opportunity to work on business\-critical systems while partnering closely with stakeholders to influence how solutions are designed and delivered.
Rather than simply delivering tickets, you'll immerse yourself in the business, gaining a deep understanding of underwriting processes and helping shape technology that delivers meaningful outcomes.
**The Opportunity**
You'll be responsible for developing and enhancing an internal Underwriter Portal and a suite of supporting applications that are transforming the way underwriters access and use information. You'll also play a key role in consolidating data from multiple legacy platforms into a modern global data hub, enabling new digital capabilities across the organisation. Working alongside product owners, business stakeholders and fellow engineers, you'll help design scalable, modern solutions that have a direct impact on the business.
**What You'll Be Doing**
* Designing and developing enterprise Java applications * Building scalable microservices using Spring Boot * Developing modern front\-end functionality using Angular (React also considered) * Building event\-driven solutions with Kafka * Deploying applications into Kubernetes environments * Integrating data from multiple enterprise platforms * Collaborating directly with underwriting teams to understand business workflows * Influencing technical design and architectural decisions * Mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practice
**Skills You'll bring:**
* Extensive commercial Java development experience * Strong Spring Boot and microservices expertise * Experience with Kafka and event\-driven architectures * Kubernetes experience * Angular or React experience * Agentic AI experience (Anthropic/Claude Preferred) * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills * Experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives * A passion for delivering high\-quality, maintainable software
