Assistant Sales Manager – Weddings & Events
The Kingfisher / The Tithe Barn Full-time (40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends)
About the Role
As part of The Kingfisher team, you will work closely with the Sales Manager to deliver high-quality Weddings and Events at The Tithe Barn and The Kingfisher. You will play a key role in driving sales performance, supporting team development, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the sales office.
Alongside delivering exceptional customer experiences, you will take on additional responsibility for coordinating team rotas, supporting sales reporting, and tracking business performance to help achieve financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the Sales Manager in generating increased financial contribution to the business by proactively driving sales to the venue and achieving agreed profit targets.
- To demonstrate a collaborative and solutions-focused approach as a member of The Kingfisher and the wider Donnington Group, working in line with the strategic plan and contributing positively to the overall success of the business.
- To supervise, lead and support the Coordinator Team, providing clear day-to-day direction, setting expectations, monitoring performance, and ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities and deadlines.
- To act as a visible leadership presence within the office, role modelling punctuality, professionalism, accountability, and high-performance standards at all times.
- To assist in creating and managing staff rotas, ensuring adequate team coverage to meet business needs while maintaining efficiency and fairness.
- To conduct engaging and professional site visits with potential clients, demonstrating strong product knowledge and supporting the team in achieving high conversion rates.
- To ensure all enquiries (telephone and email) are responded to promptly, professionally and efficiently, with proactive follow-up of provisional bookings to maximise sales conversion.
- To support the preparation and analysis of sales reports, tracking key metrics such as enquiries, conversions, revenue performance, and pipeline activity.
- To monitor and track sales performance against targets, identifying trends and opportunities, and reporting insights to the Sales Manager.
- To take ownership of all office administration, ensuring contracts, invoices, function sheets and event paperwork are accurate, completed in a timely manner, and proactively managed ahead of deadlines.
- To demonstrate forward planning and effective workload management, anticipating upcoming deadlines and prioritising tasks to ensure smooth operations and minimal last-minute pressure.
- To support the Operations Team in ensuring every event has a thorough, accurate and up-to-date function sheet, taking responsibility for attention to detail and cross-department communication.
- To proactively research and analyse competitor activity, local press leads and new business opportunities in order to drive sales growth within the wedding and events market.
- To professionally represent the business at wedding fairs, and promotional events, maintaining high energy levels, engagement and a strong leadership presence at all times.
- To build and maintain strong, professional relationships with external wedding suppliers, ensuring services meet client expectations and all charges are accurately communicated and processed.
- To maintain full compliance with operational procedures, health & safety legislation, company rules, licensing laws and regulations.
- To work evenings and weekends as required when events are booked, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the needs of the business.
- To uphold high standards of professional conduct, maintaining focus during working hours, observing appropriate workplace boundaries, limiting personal distractions, and consistently acting as a positive role model for the team.
- Any other reasonable management requests consistent with the level and responsibility of the role.
