About the Opportunity
The People Studio Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, A&M Packaging Pty Ltd, an Australian-owned manufacturer of food and retail packaging solutions with over 20 years of industry experience.
Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Industrial Engineer to join its manufacturing operations at Oakleigh South. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with relevant qualifications and practical experience to contribute to production efficiency, quality control and continuous improvement within an established manufacturing business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Junior Industrial Engineer will support the planning, coordination and improvement of manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will help optimise production workflows, improve resource utilisation, maintain quality standards and support engineering projects across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate production activities to optimise workflow, time and resource utilisation.
- Estimate production costs and assess risks associated with process changes and fabrication activities.
- Review production data and product specifications to identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyse manufacturing processes and develop improved systems and workflows to reduce production issues.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to support consistent product and process standards.
- Identify workplace hazards and assist in developing appropriate safety procedures and control measures.
- Support engineering projects from initial planning through to implementation and evaluation.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, production records and process reports.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager and production team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monitor operational performance and recommend practical improvements to manufacturing efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of one year's experience in a similar engineering role.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and process improvement skills.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and quality control.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to analyse production data and prepare technical documentation.
- A proactive approach to identifying operational improvements.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety and quality standards.
