About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR & Recruitment Officer to provide comprehensive HR, recruitment and employee-relations support across the organisation.
This is a hands-on role working closely with managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle. You will provide practical HR advice, support complex employee-relations matters, contribute to recruitment and workforce planning, and help ensure our HR policies and processes remain compliant and effective.
Key responsibilities
- Provide professional advice to managers on employee relations, employment policies and HR procedures.
- Manage and advise on disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, performance and conduct cases.
- Support managers with investigations, formal meetings and employee welfare matters.
- Advise on recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention.
- Conduct and support interviews and recruitment campaigns.
- Provide advice on terms and conditions of employment, salary matters and changes to employment arrangements.
- Support consultation processes, organisational change and workforce restructuring.
- Assist with TUPE-related consultation and employee communication where required.
- Review and recommend updates to HR policies, procedures and employee handbooks.
- Interpret employment legislation and provide practical guidance to managers.
- Analyse HR data, including absence, turnover, recruitment and workforce trends, and provide recommendations.
- Support performance review and staff development processes.
- Advise on training and development requirements.
- Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
- Assist with discussions and negotiations relating to employment terms and workplace matters.
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and documentation.
- Work closely with senior HR colleagues and managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies.
- Support right-to-work and general workforce compliance processes where required.
Person specification
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong generalist HR experience, ideally including significant employee-relations casework.
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.
- Experience supporting recruitment and workforce planning.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters professionally.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple HR cases.
- CIPD qualification or relevant HR qualification desirable.
- Experience within healthcare or another regulated environment would be advantageous.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding using ATS (Applicant Tracking System) platforms such as Workday, Taleo, or PeopleSoft.
- Maintain accurate data entry and record-keeping within HRIS (Human Resources Information System) tools to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Coordinate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies across various channels including social media management.
- Utilize HRIS systems to generate reports on recruitment metrics, employee data, and HR analytics for management review.
- Oversee administrative HR tasks such as updating employee records, managing leave requests, and supporting benefits administration.
- Assist in developing and implementing social media campaigns to promote employer branding and attract diverse candidates.
- Support onboarding activities by preparing new hire documentation, conducting orientation sessions, and facilitating smooth integration into the company culture.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in human resources or recruitment roles with a strong understanding of HRIS platforms.
- Familiarity with ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems), data entry procedures, and HR software like Salesforce or other CRM tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with candidates, hiring managers, and team members across various channels.
- Prior experience in social media management for recruitment purposes is preferred.
- Administrative experience supporting HR functions such as record-keeping, onboarding, or benefits administration is highly valued.
- Knowledge of employment laws and best practices in human resources management.
