Take the lead in transforming manufacturing performance. Driving safer operations, optimising production yields and turning engineering innovation into measurable results.
Is this you? Precision under pressure suits you. You enjoy turning production data and operational lessons into practical improvements, while keeping safety and quality firmly in view. Comfortable leading discussions and challenging deviations, you build trust with operators, technical colleagues, suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) Driving each production campaign, you will analyse yield, equipment effectiveness and schedule adherence against SAP recipe baselines, then implement improvements. You will issue recipes, verify MES data, build PI Vision and Excel monitoring tools, investigate non-conformances and lead campaign reviews. The role also covers procedures, operator training, trials, change control, incident investigations and capital projects from initial scope through commissioning.
Where you'll be doing it Within a technical chemical manufacturing environment, safety, consistent production and First Pass Quality are central to daily decisions. You will be based at their plant in Richards Bay and reporting to the Production Manager, you will work across production, quality and project activities, translating plant insight into stronger systems, clearer work instructions and more predictable performance.
What you'll need A BSc in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent qualification is essential, supported by at least 3 years of experience in a production or technical environment, preferably within the chemical manufacturing industry. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 is required. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous, alongside practical capability in process analysis, continuous improvement and capital project delivery.
What you'll get You'll receive a competitive salary and benefits package that includes a basic salary, 65% medical aid company contribution for employee, spouse and up to 3 kids, pension fund, risk benefit, bargaining council, funeral scheme and skills development levy. The real draw is the breadth of influence across safety, quality, production performance and plant investment. You will gain hands-on exposure to commissioning, cross-functional problem-solving and manufacturing improvement, with Green Belt training and the opportunity to help Yellow Belt colleagues strengthen their improvement capability.
