With in-house designers, project managers, and installation teams, Trade Sync is structured to deliver quality work on accelerated schedules and under tight deadlines. Work may begin from sketches, design discussions, photographs, field notes, or architectural and structural drawings, then progress from concept development into detailed fabrication and installation packages.

Role Description The Product Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Brantford, ON, focused on developing functional and visually compelling products and installations for commercial, retail, and public environments. In this position, the designer collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and installation teams to translate client requirements into detailed concepts, drawings, and specifications. Daily tasks include researching user and site needs, generating design concepts, creating 3D models and technical drawings, and preparing documentation for production and fabrication. The role involves prototyping and testing designs, refining them based on feedback, and ensuring feasibility, safety, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with brand and environmental standards. The Product Engineer also participates in project meetings, supports design reviews, and contributes to continuous improvement of Trade Sync’s product and design offerings.

Key Responsibilities

· Support prototype development, product improvements, and continuous improvement

initiatives for new designs and existing products.

· Creation of new products that consider fabrication, assembly, handling, installation, and

long-term serviceability.

· Utilize SolidWorks Simulation FEA Tool and stress/strain calculations to validate new and

existing designs for structural integrity.

· Development of improved hinging and latching mechanisms that are suitable for

scalable designs.

· Perform design reviews with design team. Review designs for fitment, fabrication

tolerances, and potential interference challenges.

· Rapidly develop high-level concept models for internal and client review while

maintaining proper revision control throughout each project.

· Take leadership role for custom design projects while working with the client to achieve

desired design criteria and architectural finishes.

· Interpret architectural, structural, civil, and site drawings to ensure proper integration

with existing infrastructure

· Coordinate with suppliers, and installation teams to resolve design challenges and

improve manufacturability.

· Participate in engineering and design review meetings with project managers, clients,

leadership, installation team and contractors.

· Update drawings and assemblies to reflect final as-built conditions following project

completion.

· Ensure all designs meet applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and

quality expectations.

· Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), fabrication packages, and Requests for Quotation.

· Utilize Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Structural Member features extensively within

SolidWorks.

· Working with governing bodies to push products through testing and certification.

Minimum Qualifications

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.

· 5–7 years of product design or mechanical engineering experience within a

manufacturing environment.

· Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.

· Strong understanding of sheet metal design, weldments, structural fabrication, and

manufacturing processes.

· Strong understanding of construction methods and structural integration.

· Working knowledge of GD&T principles and engineering drawing standards.

· Excellent communication, problem solving and presentation skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining design accuracy

and revision control.

Preferred Qualifications

· Ability to stamp new and existing product(s) structural details is desired.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

· Experience designing aluminum extrusion systems.

· Experience with laser cutting, CNC machining, bending, welding, and fabrication

processes

· Knowledge of structural loading and basic engineering calculations.

· Experience with digital signage, LED display systems, transit infrastructure, or

architectural products
