We’re continuing to grow and invest in ways to help our people deliver exceptional service. Travel Counsellors was named Best Place to Work in Travel in 2022 and featured in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work in 2023, 2024 and 2025. We’re looking for a Social Media Manager to help make our social presence more distinctive, relevant and effective.
About the Role
Social connects us with a wide range of audiences: from leisure customers and corporate travellers to potential new Travel Counsellors and colleagues. As our Social Media Manager, you’ll shape and deliver social activity across these audiences and help show what makes Travel Counsellors special.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll develop strategy, create and publish content, manage community activity and paid campaigns, and use performance data to improve our approach. You’ll work with teams across marketing, commercial, recruitment, customer experience, content and design to connect social activity with wider business priorities.
You’ll also help Travel Counsellors build confidence and capability in their own social activity through practical guidance, training and tools. We’re looking for someone creative, organised and commercially minded, who understands how people use different platforms and can turn that understanding into engaging content and useful results.
What You’ll Do
- Develop our social media strategy across priority audiences and platforms.
- Turn campaign and business priorities into engaging, platform-specific social content.
- Create and publish content yourself, including copy, short-form video, reels, stories and simple graphics.
- Manage the content calendar, balancing planned campaigns with timely opportunities.
- Plan and optimise paid social campaigns and budgets against agreed objectives.
- Test different creative, formats, audiences and messages, and use what you learn to improve performance.
- Manage day-to-day community engagement and use social listening to identify audience insight, opportunities and potential issues.
- Develop practical toolkits, training and guidance to help Travel Counsellors with their social activity.
- Support trials to improve how social media is managed and measured across the Travel Counsellors network.
- Report on performance and turn data into clear recommendations.
- Use AI and other tools to support research, ideas, content development and reporting, while applying human judgement and maintaining quality.
- Help ensure social activity is on-brand, accessible and mindful of permissions, copyright and reputational risk.
- Work with colleagues across the business to prioritise requests and focus effort where social can have the greatest impact.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll have strong experience in social media, with a track record across both organic and paid activity. You’ll understand how social needs to work for different audiences, campaigns or parts of a business, and feel confident creating content yourself, particularly short-form video and platform-native formats.
You’ll also bring experience of managing paid social budgets, optimising campaigns and reporting on performance. You’ll be comfortable using analytics and listening tools, and able to turn results into clear insight and recommendations.
You’ll be creative and confident with copywriting, storytelling and community engagement. You’ll also be organised, commercially minded and able to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines. Experience with creators, influencers, user-generated content or a distributed network would be an advantage, as would experience with customer, lifestyle, leisure, travel, service or premium consumer brands.
You’ll be curious about new platforms, changing audience behaviour and AI tools. We don’t expect you to know every new tool; we value a willingness to learn and experiment, and the judgement to use new tools responsibly. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership while building strong working relationships across teams.
