Job Overview:

United Way Mumbai’s Project Nirman aims to create a conducive learning environment for children by strengthening educational support in low-income and government schools. The project focuses on school upgradation, remedial education, STEM interventions, capacity building of teachers, and community engagement. It works towards improving learning outcomes, encouraging innovative classroom practices, and engaging community stakeholders to support student enrolment, retention, and access to quality education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage activities and deliverables of United Way Mumbai’s Project Nirman, ensuring adherence to the planned schedule.
  • Create specific weekly plans for the execution of project activities in alignment with the overall project timelines.
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Document project activities and outcomes on a regular basis and submit project status reports to the UWM team as per the committed timelines.
  • Undertake monitoring and needs assessment visits to schools, communities, and centres on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate closely with school stakeholders to ensure their active participation and support in project activities.
  • Identify sector expert organizations, agencies, and firms and build partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government bodies, private agencies, and NGOs, for the execution of project components.
  • Liaise, communicate, and interact effectively with internal and external project stakeholders, including government agencies, private agencies, expert organizations, NGOs, and civil society groups.
  • Develop strong connections with the community to understand its needs, concerns, and aspirations. Serve as a bridge between the community and the organization to cultivate collaboration and trust.
  • Develop and possess detailed knowledge of the project causes and provide guidance and inputs to the project team and project partners.
  • Identify local vendors for the procurement of goods and services.
  • Regularly document the impact of project interventions, including qualitative outcomes, and maintain transparent communication with the UWM team and relevant stakeholders by providing regular updates on project progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Undertake financial reconciliation and reporting of project activities.
  • Oversee and support a team of educators, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching skills and effectiveness.
  • Conduct training sessions for educators focusing on teaching methodologies, curriculum implementation, and classroom management, while providing ongoing support and resources.
  • Manage student data and follow reporting requirements as per United Way Mumbai’s guidelines.
  • Prepare implementation plans, coordinate field activities, manage vendors and contractors, and ensure timely execution of project activities.
  • Maintain project records, MIS, progress reports, photographs, beneficiary records, and impact documentation.
  • Ensure project assets remain functional through community ownership, maintenance plans, and compliance with project standards.
  • Engage Village Panchayats, community institutions, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and local stakeholders to ensure project ownership and sustainability.

Profile Requisites:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/Education (specialization in Education will be preferred).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of work experience, especially in project design and on-ground project implementation. Experience in the fields of livelihood, health, education, or working with youth will be preferred. Candidates with experience working with NGOs will have an added advantage.
  • A dynamic and versatile person who can easily connect and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders of the project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Efficient in community outreach and mobilization.
  • Must be proficient in communicating in English and Hindi.
  • Must be a team player and willing to travel to implement programme activities.

Remuneration: Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the salary is 35,000 - 45,000 per month
