**Description**
**Finance Services Admin** within **AVP Planning \& Performance** is currently seeking a Full\-time Regular **Analyst, Finance Services**.
Reporting to the Manager, Finance Services, the Analyst, Finance Services plays an important role in the delivery of finance support to the faculties/units. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the Finance Partner by assisting with all aspects of accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting for the faculty/unit, project, program, or restricted funding activity in compliance with the university's policy framework.
The role involves an ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities, simultaneous deadlines, and a rapidly evolving environment. The incumbent must work well under pressure, exercise sound professional judgment, and communicate effectively with all levels of the institution and with external stakeholders. The work may include complex financial concepts, funding or agency requirements, and a high impact of errors where inaccurate advice or information could affect stakeholders, decision making, or the reputation of the University.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
* Support the management of the faculty/unit's budget, including project, capital, program or restricted funding activity where applicable, and act as a contact in the faculty/unit for finance and accounting related issues, following up with key stakeholders as required. * Support project, capital or restricted funding reporting by assisting with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial analysis and reporting, ensuring transactions are appropriate, supported, approved and accurately recorded in the University's financial system. * Responds to and resolves complex process issues, engaging the Finance Partner as required. * Prepare monthly forecast and variance analysis for review by the Finance Partner, by consulting with department or unit managers, to determine planned use of resources within the budget framework. * Compile and perform meaningful analysis for preparation of annual budget. * Work in partnership with stakeholders to continuously seek to improve financial processes and procedures within the faculty/unit by working with finance process owners. * Support the faculty/unit's resource allocation decision making process (including research, financial, personnel, capital, information technology, etc). * Assist with maintaining supporting documentation, audit trails, working papers and reconciliations required for financial reporting, reviews, audits or funding agency requirements. * Assist with educating team members in the faculty/unit on finance process, budgeting, and planning. * Stay current on trends and approaches to financial management and processes through continued professional development. * Provide a wide variety of ad hoc reporting, project or capital reporting where applicable, and financial analysis to enable timely and effective decision making within the faculty/unit, project or program area. * Provide advice of non\-adherence to University policies, funding agency requirements or applicable financial guidelines and escalate when appropriate to ensure resolution.
**Qualifications / Requirements:**
* Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Canada designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA or equivalent) and a related University degree, in business, finance, accounting or a related field. * Individuals nearing completion of their CPA designation may be considered. * Knowledge and understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards. * Extensive work experience in progressively more responsible accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis (5\+ years). * Excellent communication skills including strong written and verbal skills. * Strong interpersonal skills with the capability of building and maintaining productive and supportive working relationships. * Be organized, able to handle a large and varied workload, and meet deadlines * Proficient user of computer software applications, including large integrated enterprise resource planning systems, data warehousing and business intelligence tools, and advanced spreadsheet skills.
