About this role

Be part of a pioneering project!

User Rights protects fundamental rights on social media. When content is wrongly removed or illegal content isn't taken down, User Rights helps people enforce their rights.

As Germany's first independent dispute settlement body for social media platforms, we actively shape the legal framework of the digital space and help protect fundamental rights and democracy online.

Our website is the central point of contact for anyone who wants to challenge a platform's moderation decision out of court. To make sure people can find us, even if they've never heard of an out-of-court dispute settlement body, we're looking for a detail-oriented generalist to join our Berlin office as SEO & Website Editorial Manager (m/f/d), starting immediately.

In this role, you'll own our website's SEO operations and editorial pipeline across four languages. At the heart of it all: making complex EU regulation legible, in plain language, to the people who need to act on it, and increasing our website's visibility.

Your mission

SEO health: You monitor our website's performance, spot regressions early, flag what needs attention, and make sure our content can be found in search engines and AI-powered search.

Editorial pipeline: You plan and maintain our publishing calendar, write articles yourself or support their writing and editing, and coordinate translations. You ensure the quality and consistency of our content across all four languages: German, English, French, and Italian.

CMS operations: You support day-to-day publishing in our CMS (Sulu), run periodic content audits, and fix recurring issues such as broken canonical tags, outdated copy, or missing metadata.

Your profile

Essential

  • A solid grasp of SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) principles across technical, on-page, and content.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, and rank trackers.
  • Confident writing and editing in at least two of our four languages (DE/EN/FR/IT), with a strong editorial eye across all of them.
  • At ease with CMS tools and content calendars, and comfortable coordinating with contributors across time zones and languages.
  • An understanding of the User Rights tone: legally grounded, unambiguous, and human.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted writing or editorial workflows
  • Experience with multilingual SEO or hreflang logic
  • A background in legal, policy, or civic tech content

Why us?

  • A central role in an open, supportive team that is setting standards for the future of out-of-court dispute settlement.
  • Plenty of room to shape your role, and the chance to take on responsibility from day one.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work remotely from elsewhere in the EU for up to 30 days a year.
  • 30 days of paid vacation on a five-day week.
  • An Urban Sports Club "M Business" membership.
  • Modern equipment and a central office in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Interested?

To apply, send us a writing sample and a brief note on your background. Examples of multilingual or plain-language work on complex topics are especially welcome.
