Shop Manager – Valdosta Electric Company

Valdosta Electric Company is an electrical contractor hiring a Shop Manager to run our shop and manage the flow of materials, tools, and equipment to our field crews. The work is split between the shop and active job sites, with regular daily travel to sites.
Responsibilities
· Run day-to-day shop operations and keep the shop organized, clean, and safe
· Manage our inventory process in Procore: receive deliveries, verify them against purchase orders, label and stage pallets, and track material through checkout
· Make sure the correct materials get to the correct crews and job sites
· Keep field gang boxes and job-site material stores stocked, and make material runs and deliveries during the day as needs come up
· Tow trailers, load and unload equipment, and operate telehandlers and larger forklifts
· Complete monthly equipment checklists, routine vehicle checks, and trailer inspections (roadworthiness and lights), and keep the shop building and grounds in good order
· Maintain a check-in/check-out inventory of large tools and equipment such as wire spoolers, racks, and tuggers
· Schedule vehicle service and coordinate getting vehicles to and from the maintenance shop
· Supervise and train the Shop Assistant
Qualifications
· Experience in electrical, construction, or a related industry preferred but not strictly mandatory
· Working knowledge of electrical materials (names, types, and common uses) sufficient to communicate accurately with field crews preferred but not strictly mandatory
· Experience with materials handling and inventory
· Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred, and may be required depending on trailer class
· Ability to operate, or become certified to operate, telehandlers, forklifts, and aerial/scissor lifts
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in the shop and outdoors in varied weather
· Supervisory experience preferred
Pay and Benefits
· Starting $45k to $55k salary, depending on experience, to increase as role expands
· OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, telehandler, forklift, and aerial/scissor lift certifications paid for by the company
