The Opportunity
Picture this: dozens of moving projects, hundreds of hard-won lessons learned on-site, and a wealth of operational knowledge living in people's heads instead of on paper. That's where you come in.
We're looking for a sharp, curious Construction Project Coordinator; ideally a recent graduate, EIT, or someone with hands-on construction exposure; to help translate real-world construction processes into clear, standardized operational manuals.
This isn't a back-office writing role. You'll work closely with project managers, superintendents, and field staff to capture how work gets done and turn that knowledge into something lasting.
The role will initially be site-based while the Operations Manual is being developed, providing valuable field experience. As the manual evolves, the position will transition into a blend of field and office-based responsibilities, supporting ongoing operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What You'll Be Doing
Operational Manual Development
- Develop, write, and organize detailed operational manuals for construction projects
- Translate complex, day-to-day workflows into documentation that's actually useful
- Standardize processes across multiple projects and teams
- Work directly with project managers, superintendents, and field staff to get it right
️ Project Coordination Support
- Assist with project documentation, tracking, and administrative coordination
- Maintain organized records of procedures, lessons learned, and best practices
- Help roll out standardized processes across project teams
Process Improvement
- Spot the gaps, inefficiencies, and inconsistencies others might miss
- Recommend and document smarter, more reliable workflows
- Keep manuals current as projects and the organization evolve
Communication & Collaboration
- Partner closely with operations and project teams to keep documentation grounded in reality
- Sit in on meetings to capture key processes firsthand
- Support training and onboarding with documentation people actually want to read
What We're Looking For
You love turning chaos into clarity. You're the person who color-codes the group project, or the one who always volunteers to write up the meeting notes — because you're good at it.
- A recent graduate or early-career professional with a degree/diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Construction environment experience (co-op, internship, or full-time) is a strong asset
- Excellent writing, editing, and documentation skills
- Experience creating procedures, manuals, or process documentation is highly valued
- Sharp attention to detail and a genuinely organized mind
- Comfortable communicating with both office teams and field crews
- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint); construction software experience is a bonus
- Self-motivated, curious, and energized by fast-paced environments
- What Success Looks Like
— Your First 3 Months
- Get a real handle on Carlson's operations, projects, and workflows
- Build genuine relationships with project teams and key stakeholders
- Start developing structured templates for operational manuals
- Deliver your first drafts of project-specific documentation
- Spot key opportunities for process standardization
- Establish a clear, repeatable framework the whole
organization can build on
Why This Role Is Special
This is a rare chance to shape how an entire organization documents and executes its work — not just join a process, but help build it. Every manual you write, every workflow you standardize, becomes part of how Carlson operates for years to come.
You'll get hands-on exposure to live construction projects while laying the groundwork for stronger operational excellence across the company — high impact, real visibility, and a
direct line to long-term growth.
