We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer II to provide technical leadership within a collaborative XactRestore product team. Our teams bring together product management, UX, and engineering—including QA—to understand customer problems, discover effective solutions, and deliver measurable results.
You’ll lead substantial engineering work, guide technical decisions, and strengthen development practices while sharing accountability for product outcomes with your teammates. You’ll also collaborate with engineering leaders across the Restore division to improve our technical direction and how we build software.
You’ll help build reliable capabilities that support customers’ operational needs, including the complexity of enterprise organizations adopting XactRestore across their teams.
Contribute to product discovery and delivery. Work with product management, UX, and fellow engineers to understand customer problems, explore solutions, and assess technical feasibility. Help the team achieve its intended outcomes through implementation, release, and ongoing improvement.
Lead through technical design and hands-on development. Write, review, and troubleshoot production code while guiding sound design decisions. Apply established architectural patterns and development principles, make tradeoffs explicit, and address maintainability, reliability, security, and operational needs.
Drive technical execution with sound judgment. Break complex work into manageable increments, coordinate dependencies, and identify and address technical risks. Work independently within agreed priorities, helping the product team sequence engineering work and seeking guidance when appropriate.
Strengthen engineering practices and quality. Work with developers and QA engineers to apply meaningful testing, code review, and release validation. Improve CI/CD and automation practices, using lessons from delivery and production operations to refine how the team works.
Guide responsible use of AI in development. Apply and improve practices for AI-assisted and agentic workflows. Ensure appropriate verification and clear boundaries for autonomous work, human guidance, and actions that must stop because they exceed authorized permissions or risk limits.
Use evidence to guide improvement. Work with the product team and engineering leaders to select meaningful measures, establish baselines, and track improvements or regressions in software quality, reliability, delivery, and customer outcomes. Use findings to guide decisions and assess whether changes achieve their intended benefits.
Contribute to technical leadership across Restore. Collaborate with engineering leaders on technical direction, shared standards, incident learnings, and build-versus-buy decisions. Help evaluate technical debt proposals, determine which improvements to pursue, and prioritize their implementation. Lead agreed engineering initiatives and coordinate adoption across affected teams.
Support production reliability. Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and contribute to incident investigation, mitigation, and resolution. Turn operational lessons into improvements to the software and development process.
Develop other engineers. Provide thoughtful reviews, mentoring, and technical guidance that improve the team’s judgment, independence, and effectiveness.
- A four-year bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 7+ years of related experience.
- A record of leading complex, hands-on engineering work within collaborative product teams, from discovery through delivery and operation.
- Strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate design options, explain tradeoffs, and manage technical risks.
- Experience improving engineering practices and helping other engineers apply them effectively.
- Practical judgment in using AI-assisted development tools, verifying their work, and recognizing when human intervention is required.
- Experience using data to assess technical decisions and improvements, or demonstrated analytical judgment with a commitment to developing these practices further.
- Clear communication, effective collaboration, and the ability to work independently within agreed priorities.
- Accountability for your contributions and the team’s outcomes, with a willingness to surface risks, learn from failures, and improve the approach.

We welcome candidates with strong experience in comparable technologies who meet the role’s broader qualifications and are committed to learning our stack. You’ll be expected to develop working proficiency in the technologies needed to contribute across our web, backend, and mobile applications.
