Responsibilities
Lead the engineering team that designs, builds and runs the Oracle ExaCC Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform and the cloud managed (PaaS) database services on AWS and GCP for the banking client.
Own the technical design and roadmap for database provisioning, automation, security and resilience across on-premises (ExaCC) and public cloud.
Make sure all platform changes meet the bank's security, risk, audit and change-management standards.
Manage delivery planning, priorities, estimates and reporting to client and Virtusa leadership.
Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and set engineering standards.
Act as the main technical contact between Virtusa, client platform teams, application teams and vendors (Oracle, AWS, Google Cloud).
Main Tasks
Design end-to-end ExaCC provisioning automation (Exadata infrastructure → VM cluster → DB home → database) using Terraform modules and pipelines driven by variable files.
Build and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles on Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) for database build, configuration, patching and compliance checks, with separate inventories per environment.
Provision and manage AWS PaaS databases (Amazon RDS, Aurora) and GCP PaaS databases (Cloud SQL) using Terraform. This covers high availability, backups, encryption, network security and access controls.
Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD workflows for database and infrastructure delivery across OCI, AWS and GCP.
Maintain the production database creation script suite (pre-checks, DB creation via dbaascli, post-configuration, PDB cloning, verification) for RAC and single-instance databases.
Design high availability and disaster recovery using Oracle Data Guard / Active Data Guard and cloud-native replication; write DR runbooks and upgrade procedures.
Put database security controls in place: TDE key management with HSM integration, TCPS with CA-signed certificates, and HashiCorp Vault for secrets and SSH key rotation.
Connect OCI IAM / Identity Domains to enterprise sign-on (SAML/OIDC) with least-privilege access.
Build monitoring, fleet-health and capacity/billing dashboards using Oracle Enterprise Manager REST APIs and Python.
Lead incident and problem resolution, including root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
Prepare technical designs, runbooks and documentation; present them to architecture and change boards.
