VKE Group is seeking skilled and motivated Setting-Out Engineers / Site Engineers to join our growing construction teams on major projects across London and European locations.

The Role
As a Setting-Out Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring construction works are accurately positioned, levelled, and delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
You will work closely with Site Managers, Project Engineers, subcontractors, surveyors, and design teams to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
Your Responsibilities
- Set out foundations, groundworks, RC structures, slabs, steelwork, and external works.
- Establish and maintain grid lines, benchmarks, datums, and control points.
- Operate Total Station, GPS/GNSS, and surveying equipment.
- Carry out accurate line, level, alignment, and tolerance checks.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical information.
- Complete dimensional checks and monitor construction accuracy.
- Produce as-built surveys, quality records, and site documentation.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and site conditions and communicate them to the relevant teams.
- Work closely with subcontractors and site management to coordinate engineering activities.
- Support the delivery of works in accordance with programme, quality, and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate engineering and surveying records throughout the project.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Setting-Out Engineer, Site Engineer, or Surveying Engineer.
- Strong practical setting-out and surveying experience.
- Experience with groundworks, foundations and reinforced concrete.
- Confident use of Total Station equipment.
- Experience with GPS/GNSS is advantageous.
- Strong ability to read and understand engineering and construction drawings.
- Good understanding of levels, coordinates, datums, tolerances, and construction control.
- Experience with as-built surveys and QA documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and site coordination skills.
- Relevant engineering, surveying, or construction qualifications are desirable.
- Residential, commercial, civil engineering, or general construction experience is welcome.
