This role facilitates engaging learning experiences through a variety of training modalities, supports change management initiatives, partners with facility leadership to develop talent, and ensures classroom learning is successfully translated into on-the-job performance. The Academy Coach acts as a trusted partner to associates and leaders by delivering training, coaching talent, supporting operational readiness, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of learning and belonging. Location: Fernley, NV (Fully Onsite)
You'll Make an Impact By...
- Delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences that build associate capability and drive operational excellence across the business.
- Facilitating instructor-led, virtual, and immersive learning experiences through Academy Connect, Virtual Reality (VR), emerging technologies, and other innovative training modalities.
- Conducting training classes in accordance with Academy schedules while supporting additional learning activities such as virtual instruction, overnight training, and end-of-day learning programs across multiple Academy locations.
- Partnering with facility leaders to identify development opportunities, strengthen talent pipelines, support succession planning efforts, and provide ongoing leadership feedback.
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing associates and leaders through impactful feedback, recognition, performance support, and growth-focused development opportunities.
- Supporting the successful adoption of operational changes, specialty initiatives, and business transformations through classroom facilitation, virtual learning, and hands-on coaching.
- Conducting facility visits to ensure classroom learning translates into expected operational performance and reporting findings to facility and catchment leadership teams.
- Building strong relationships with associates, facility leadership, Academy teams, and business partners to align learning solutions with operational goals and customer needs.
- Participating in teach-backs, co-facilitation activities, content reviews, assessment validation, and facilitation audits to continuously improve learning effectiveness and delivery quality.
- Leveraging data, observations, and business insights to measure learning outcomes, identify improvement opportunities, and improve associate readiness.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, ethics standards, and the Open Door Policy while supporting Walmart's mission and values.
- Creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement, belonging, collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Walmart associate with 18 months of Walmart operations experience as a salaried member of management supervising non-exempt associates/employees.
- Successful completion of all required Walmart Academy and job-related training programs and assessments.
- Successful completion of applicable firearms-related training, certifications, and background checks when required by store location.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of salaried Walmart operations experience supervising five or more direct reports.
- Experience with performance management, mentoring, interviewing, hiring, and developing associates.
- Adult education, training facilitation, curriculum delivery, coaching, and leadership development experience.
- Experience leading change management, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt learning approaches to different learning styles.
- Experience in curriculum development, learning content delivery, and training effectiveness measurement.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop associates and leaders while supporting succession planning and talent development efforts.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Experience utilizing data, observations, and operational insights to identify performance gaps and recommend learning solutions.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, performance management, diversity awareness, and associate development strategies.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of execution, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Experience with Academy Connect, Virtual Reality (VR), virtual facilitation platforms, emerging learning technologies, and other digital training tools.
- Proven commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, collaboration, and creating an inclusive culture of learning and belonging.
