Design the digital experience behind Nouvelle.

ABOUT NOUVELLE

Nouvelle Très Belle Robe Ltd is a Manchester-based fashion business entering the next stage of its development.

As Nouvelle grows, we are investing not only in the products we offer, but also in how our collections are discovered, presented and experienced online.

Customers increasingly encounter fashion brands digitally before they ever visit a store or make a purchase. They discover collections through mobile devices, browse products online, compare styles and form an impression of a brand through the quality of its digital experience.

For Nouvelle, our website therefore needs to be more than a place to display products.

It needs to feel clear, considered, visually refined and easy to use, while properly representing the direction of the Nouvelle brand.

We are now developing more of this capability in-house and are looking for an experienced Web & UI/UX Designer who can take genuine professional ownership of that experience.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Director, you will take responsibility for the design, structure and user experience of Nouvelle Très Belle Robe’s customer-facing website and ecommerce environment.

This is a dedicated digital-design role combining web design, user-interface design, user experience, ecommerce presentation and digital visual design.

You will review how customers currently interact with Nouvelle online, identify opportunities to improve their journey and translate those findings into thoughtful, practical design solutions.

Your work will directly influence how customers discover Nouvelle, explore our collections, understand our products and move from initial interest through to purchase.

We are looking for somebody who can combine strong visual judgement with customer-focused thinking and commercial awareness.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Designing and continuously improving Nouvelle Très Belle Robe’s customer-facing website.
  • Creating clear, visually consistent and commercially effective webpage layouts.
  • Designing homepage experiences, collection pages, product pages, campaign pages and other customer-facing areas.
  • Improving website navigation, information hierarchy and product discovery.
  • Designing responsive digital experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • Producing wireframes, page structures, mock-ups, user flows and interactive prototypes where appropriate.
  • Reviewing existing customer journeys and identifying unnecessary complexity or friction.
  • Improving the journey from initial product discovery through browsing and purchase.
  • Developing consistent digital standards for typography, spacing, imagery, navigation, buttons, cards and interface components.
  • Helping establish a reusable design system so future Nouvelle digital work remains consistent.
  • Supporting the presentation of new collections, seasonal campaigns, featured edits and product launches.
  • Improving the way products and collections are presented within the ecommerce environment.
  • Reviewing website behaviour and available analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Using evidence and customer behaviour to support design decisions.
  • Researching relevant developments in ecommerce, web design and UI/UX.
  • Reviewing relevant fashion and ecommerce experiences to understand changing customer expectations.
  • Testing interfaces across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Identifying layout, usability and responsive-design issues.
  • Preparing clear specifications and briefs where technical implementation requires support from developers or external specialists.
  • Presenting design recommendations clearly to the Director and explaining the reasoning behind significant changes.

FASHION & ECOMMERCE

Nouvelle is a fashion business, so how our products are presented digitally matters.

The successful candidate will help develop the way customers experience individual products, complete collections, new arrivals and seasonal campaigns online.

You will consider areas including product imagery, typography, spacing, visual hierarchy, collection structure, navigation and information presentation.

The customer journey should feel natural from beginning to end:

Discovery → Collection → Product → Decision → Purchase

You will help identify opportunities to make this journey simpler, more attractive and more effective.

You may also create dedicated digital experiences for new collections, occasion wear, seasonal edits, promotions, featured products and future product categories.

The objective is not simply to place products online.

It is to create a digital environment that feels coherent, deliberate and recognisably Nouvelle.

UI & USER EXPERIENCE

Good digital design is not only about appearance.

It is also about making it easy for customers to understand where they are, find what they need and confidently take the next step.

You will consider questions such as:

  • Can customers find products easily?
  • Is navigation clear?
  • Does the mobile experience work as effectively as desktop?
  • Is important product information obvious?
  • Are there unnecessary steps within the customer journey?
  • Are layouts visually consistent?
  • Could any part of the experience be simpler?
  • Where are customers losing interest or leaving the journey?

You will use these observations to develop practical improvements rather than making changes simply for appearance.

DESIGN SYSTEM & DIGITAL CONSISTENCY

As Nouvelle grows, the digital experience needs to remain consistent.

You will help establish professional standards covering elements such as typography, spacing, imagery, navigation, buttons, product presentation, interface components, mobile behaviour and page structure.

This will allow future digital work to remain visually connected to the wider Nouvelle brand.

RESEARCH, TESTING & IMPROVEMENT

Digital experiences should continue to evolve.

You will review how customers interact with the website, monitor relevant design and ecommerce developments and identify opportunities to improve the Nouvelle experience.

You will test proposed designs before and after implementation, review how they perform across different devices and refine them where appropriate.

We are looking for continuous, evidence-led improvement, not redesign for the sake of redesign.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for somebody who understands both sides of digital design:

how something looks and how something works.

You should care about visual detail, typography, spacing and presentation while also thinking carefully about the person using the website.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of projects, identifying problems independently and explaining the reasoning behind your design decisions.

You should also be capable of working directly with senior management and translating wider business objectives into practical digital solutions.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Professional experience in web design, UI/UX design or a closely related digital-design discipline.
  • Strong understanding of user-interface design.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design and user experience.
  • Experience designing customer-facing websites.
  • Experience creating wireframes, mock-ups, page structures or prototypes.
  • Understanding of responsive web design.
  • Ability to design effectively for desktop and mobile environments.
  • Strong visual-layout and typography skills.
  • Understanding of ecommerce customer journeys.
  • Ability to organise complex information clearly.
  • Experience using professional interface-design software.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple design priorities.
  • Confidence presenting and explaining design decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of a defined business function.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Experience in any of the following would be particularly useful:

Fashion · Womenswear · Retail · Ecommerce · Figma · Shopify or comparable ecommerce platforms · Website CMS systems · HTML/CSS · User testing · Website accessibility · Conversion optimisation · Digital analytics · Prototyping · Design systems · Fashion imagery · Ecommerce merchandising

Previous fashion experience would be advantageous, but we are primarily interested in somebody who can demonstrate the ability to create thoughtful, polished and commercially relevant digital experiences.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role will not simply be measured by how many pages are redesigned.

We will look at whether Nouvelle’s digital customer experience is becoming genuinely stronger.

That includes improvements in:

Website usability · Mobile experience · Navigation · Product discovery · Customer journeys · Interface consistency · Accessibility · Product presentation · Customer engagement · Ecommerce performance · Digital presentation of new collections

Your work should ultimately make Nouvelle easier to discover, easier to explore and easier to shop.

WHY JOIN NOUVELLE

Nouvelle Très Belle Robe is developing its digital capabilities at an important point in the company’s growth.

That creates an opportunity for the successful candidate to do more than simply maintain an established website.

You will have the opportunity to help shape how Nouvelle develops online, establish stronger digital-design standards and have meaningful influence over the experience customers see and use.

For somebody who enjoys combining fashion, design, customer experience and ecommerce, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of an important area of the business.
