Western Varieties Wholesale is a proudly Indigenous\-owned company located in Edmonton, Alberta. We operate a 20,000 sq. ft. warehouse with approximately 7,500 SKUs and are looking for an experienced Office Manager/Bookkeeper to lead our operations.

We are seeking a competent, confident and enthused Office Manager/Bookkeeper to join our team. As Office Manager/Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in our daily operations. This role requires a balance of proactive planning and reactive problem\-solving to ensure smooth day\-to\-day operations, while supporting department managers and ownership in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment.

Our ideal candidate will know how to balance being friendly and approachable while also ensuring staff accomplish goals, will be self\-motivated, and be capable of seeing tasks through to completion. We have an immediate opening for this position.

Job Description: Office Manager / Bookkeeper Position

Summary

The Office Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the day\-to\-day administrative operations of the office while maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization's accounting functions. This role ensures efficient office operations, effective administrative support, and timely, accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate is highly organized, detail\-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Office Manager / Bookkeeper

* Oversee the daily operations of the office to ensure a productive and efficient work environment. * Manage a team of administrators which includes overseeing tasks and schedules. * Develop and maintain office policies, procedures, and administrative systems. * Support management with administrative projects and reporting. * Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system. * Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. * Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payment. * Prepare payroll documents. * Maintain the general ledger and supporting financial records. * Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budget tracking. * Support month\-end and year\-end closing activities. * Prepare documentation for accountants, auditors, and tax filings. * Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information. * Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

* Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred. * Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping, office administration, or a similar combined role. * Proficient in Sage 50, Excel, and GSuite. * Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial recordkeeping. * Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. * Strong attention to detail and accuracy. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently, or lead, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferences

We have a deep appreciation for Indigenous art and culture! Preference will be given to candidates:

* Language Skills: Fluent in speaking Cree. * Culture: Understanding of various Indigenous cultures with an emphasis on Cree and Metis.
